Is FOTL worth it?

we are planning on staying at Universal for one night to start our vacation next May. I can book Nickelodeon suites with Airline miles but I was thinking since we will only be there Saturday and half of Sunday that we might want the FOTL benefits from staying onsite...Thoughts?

With small kids I think it is worth it. I love being able to plan the day around what we want to do instead of which rides have the longest wait times. We also enjoy being able to head over to the park at any time with a short walk or even heading back to the hotel during mid day for a swim break.

If you stay onsite, you get into Harry Potter earlier too right?

100% worth it, wouldn't go without it.... and yes in june we got in @ 7:30 before the general public

For the past few years we have stayed on site, and will always from now on as we cannot stand waiting in queues of over an hour. Definitely worth the money.

As the others have said, it is well worth it to stay on-site. We stay at the HRH every trip before Disney just for that reason. Also, not sure if you are aware, but the Nick Hotel is actually much much closer to Disney than Universal.

I knew it was 10 miles from Universal...we are staying at Shades of Green at Disney...now I just need to find a deal on a hotel for one night at Universal

We used to stay for 1 night but now stay for 2 nights giving us 3 days FOLP, then we go back to WDW.

We arrive on April 14, staying just the one night. I just booked Royal Pacific...paid $309, but hoping for an AP rate later on. I really didn't want to spend that much money, and I tried looking at other, offsite resorts. Well, for my date, I was looking at around, at least, $150 a night. So, I add the parking cost for two days at the parks, as well as the cost of FOTL passes for all three of us, for two days (the week before Easter vacation is going to be crowded I'm sure)..and well, it came to what I would have paid for the room to begin with. I just bit the bullet and paid for it.
After buying the FOTL passes for my dd and I for the day last month, I said I wouldn't wait in the lines again...it was so nice to just head to the front of the line. If the line was short, we did the standby line first, then did the quick line.

We stayed at HRH for this past Labor Day weekend. With FOTL privilieges, we barely waited for rides, while many regular lines were 30 minutes or longer. I would never go to US/IOA without staying onsite to get FOTL.
