Is Feb 10 a holiday or event weekend?

We were looking at heading down Feb. 10, but it looks like most the harbor hotels are booked and a good chunk of the DLR hotels are too. Is it a 3 day weekend or a special event?

It's not a major holiday that I know of, but some schools do take February 12th off in celebration of Lincoln or Family Day (British Columbia). Most schools seem to take the 19th (President's Day) off, but there a few that do both. There is also something called the LA Cookie Con & Sweets Show occurring that weekend at the convention center which might impact area hotels (not sure about the Disney ones).

Do you think the sweet show will affect attendance at Disneyland?
With so many closures we are trying to hit a lower attendance weekend.
I understand there isn't really an "off season" anymore, but want to try our best.

I think that the conventions can impact hotel availability, but very few of the conventions actually impact the park crowds (except perhaps D23).

Judging by the park hours, Mickey is expecting somewhat larger crowds that week than the weeks preceding it. Weekdays that week are 13 - 15 hours instead of 11 hours.

hmm.. wonder what they're expecing extra crowds for

I can't say specifically, but my guess is that it has to do with President's Day weekend (a three day weekend for many). Perhaps they block out the week preceding and following a three-day weekend, assuming that some folks will opt to travel those weeks because there is a day off involved.

I recall reading of people's surprise at during February before - especially the week prior to and after President's Day.

Specifically in 2016 when we were headed to DLR and I was reading a lot of comments up until our trip end of February, there was thread after thread asking "why is it so busy when it's supposed to be the off season" - to which every one replied "what off season?"

I think this is the same issue.

We will be there Feb 9-12. I booked our stay at BWPPI about 2 months ago, and at that time there was tons of availability at every hotel/ motel that I checked. That weekend is only about 2.5 weeks away now, so it doesn't seem that unusual to me that rooms are filling up. Even if there is nothing going on that weekend. I hope there isn't...

Going down there fore the first time Feb 11- 15! I'm from BC Canada and I'm going during spring break for my school.
Maybe many other BC college students are heading down there as well haha.

It's Lincoln's birthday. That creates a 3 day weekend for our Northern California school district.

I wonder if the Lunar New Year Festival has an impact on people going just for that.

Do a good chunk of Nor Cal residents do Disneyland on the 3 day weekend?

I don't know how many actually have a 3 day weekend that weekend, but it's a better choice for us than other 3 day weekends that all districts have off. (ie, I'd pick that weekend over president's day weekend, because all school districts have that one off.)

Our district in Northern Calif has it off too (we get 2- 3 day weekends in Feb). Son has a sports tournament in Anaheim/Irvine the weekend of the 9th so we will stay at GCH, hit the tournament by day and parks by night and on Monday. Gotta love a sports tournament near the parks!

I don't think the Lunar New Year Festival is that big of a draw. It will bring in some people, but not on the same level as HalloweenTime or the holidays.

I took a quick scan of the Northern CA schools that I have in the calendar thread and a few do have Lincoln's birthday, but it doesn't seem wide spread. Likewise, a few SoCal districts have it off, but not all.
