Is FastPass for resort guests only?

Someone I know just went to Disney and said it was for resort guests only. I'm staying onsite so not a big deal but I was just curious if this was true?

Fastpass is for everyone with a park ticket. You dont need to stay on-site to be able to use this service.

Havent been there in a year or so unless they changed it. However we just came back from Disneyland, thats how it is there. everyone with a ticket can use it.

As said all you need is a park ticket to get fast pass. BUT the ticket MUST have been used to get into the park that day. Lets say your there with your family of 4, and 2 in your party have decided to stay at the resort you can not bring their tickets with you and get 4 fastpasses per attraction. The 2 that were not put thru the turnstile will not work in the fastpass machine.

Fastpass is not just for resort guests only -- it is for all guests in the park that day.

It also doesn't cost anything. Lots of people, for some reason, believe that you have to pay for it.

:confused3

I feel sorry for those who go to WDW and spend the whole trip thinking that FastPass is somehow restricted and they can't use it.

I want EVERYBODY to use FP because it makes the stand-by lines that much shorter!

On a related note, the Universal Studios theme parks offer Front Of The Line access, but this perk IS limited to their resort guests only. Perhaps this contributes to some of the confusion given the different manner in which WDW and US administer similar perks.

Good point, especially considering how so many people who are unfamiliar with WDW and USF think that Universal is owned and operated by Disney.

I've seen people trying to pay at Universal shops with Disney Dollars.

Fastpass is not only restricted to Resort Guests--it is restricted to only very special resort guests--they know who they are--so if you were not contacted by Disney you are not to use Fastpass. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

NO!!! Of course not! Fastpass is an absolute good for everyone!

My DH thought we were going to be able to go to USF during our trip  HE was so disappointed when I set him straight. Though I am glad that I found out his confusion now and not when we get there!!!

This is a huge and widespread misconception. Can't tell you how many people I encounter who don't understand how Fastpass works. I have noticed that the park maps now have steps listed for fastpass. That should help.

But that would require people to read their park maps! :rotfl2:

Fastpasses are for Walt Disney World Resort Guests to use...that is anyone who is a guest at Walt Disney World Resort...the 47 square mile resort... day guest or overnight guest...is able to use Fastpass with their park ticket. You don't have to be staying overnight in a WDW Resort Hotel. Just as WDW employees are Cast Members, WDW calls their park patrons guests, even if they are just there for the day.

A local radio station was talking about the 50th Celebration this morning and they mentioned the fastpass program (not by name) and that there was an extra charge for it.
