Is the Fairfield Inn that awful? I read a bunch of reviews. Unfortunately, we are committed already. Give me any tips such as is one part of the hotel better than another. We don't plan on spending a lot of time there since we think it may be too cold for swimming in 20 days. Thanks everyone. You're so helpful.

Have no idea what you're talking about. We always stay at the FFI and have never had a problem. Last time....a couple months ago...we were given a POTC themed room on a high floor. Always been clean and tidy and close to Millies, Mimi's, and McD's.

I wouldn't worry. It's not a great FFI, but going in knowing that, also know it's not a bad place to stay.

I have written nothing but good reviews about this hotel. We always stay here when we go. The rooms are clean, although basic. As long as youare not expecting a 4 star hotel you will be pleasantly surprised. The location is great also, an easy walk. You have nothing to worry about.:goodvibes

I agree with Dreamer & the other posters above. Most would rate FFI good to very good lodging.

(but not a good use of Marriot Rewards points, imo)

I wouldn't hesitate to stay there. Here is a good thread from last year:

Have a great time at Walt's Park. :thumbsup2

My husband and I stayed there on our honeymoon two years ago and were very pleased! The service was great and the rooms were nice. If we weren't splurging and staying at PPH this summer we would definitely be there again!

We stay there frequently, and we really like it. The staff is very friendly, rooms are clean and nicely renovated. Pool is great, and the location is very good.

I stayed there last weekend. As the PPs have said, the rooms were clean, but pretty basic. The only two negatives were pretty minor: the towels are really thin and scratchy and the toilet was really hard to flush. Otherwise, the room was clean and there were plenty of towels. The toiletries were replaced everyday. We stayed on the 4th floor (facing the freeway), but it was pretty quiet and we rarely heard anyone outside or above us. It's an easy walk back from DLR. We usually left the park after closing (had to do some last minute shopping...) and there were always other people walking back at the same time.

I stayed there in November 2011, and it was fine. It was clean, and comfortable. Would I stay there for a week, probably not, because I like to spread out, bit it was good for 4 nights.

I'm going to go against the grain here.

About two years we were assigned room 317 and it was indeed awful. The smell of cleaning chemicals used in the room was overwhelming. Carpet was musty and the TV was partially broken. We stayed a few hours and checked out. For roughly the same price, there are far better options out there.

Since then I've read they have done some remodeling so perhaps it's a lot better now.

we love the Fairfield! The beds were very comfortable, the view was great, and we loved the location. It was nice and clean and we really had a great stay there. I hope you have a great trip!

Hi,
I don't want to burst your bubble, but I am a travel agent that has been sending clients to DL for many years and I have also stayed there. Truth be told, this is not my favorite hotel. Why are you committed? Did you just guarantee your room with a card or one night's deposit. That you can get back. If you booked through a third party (hotwire, etc.), then you would need to contact them to have your reservation refunded or moved. I actually think it's a great 2 star, but if you have higher expectations, you won't be happy. I would definitely try to move unless you reallize it is a 2 star. This is why people should not book through a 3rd party (priceline, hotwire, etc.). I have never found their prices cheaper than anything that I can offer and we don't have the non refundable thing and conditions these companies have. Just sayin"

We stayed at FFI less than 2 months ago and were very pleased with it! The staff were great, the room was spacious and very clean. We have stayed at the Anaheim Hilton and the Marriott Anaheim and FFI was our favourite and the short walk is just a bonus. We made good use of their mini mart on the 3rd floor and found the prices very reasonable. :)
Have a great trip!

I am surprised to hear any RECENT bad reports since the renovations. I have always been thrilled at the level of customer service at this hotel. One issue I will agree with, the towels are indeed thin. If this is an issue you may want to bring your own towels. But for us, we are barely in the room. We come back to sleep and shower, then we hit the parks!:cool1: This is the one Marriott hotel that treats reward members special too. They have emailed me for every reservation made to ask if I am celebrating. I always ask for something for my DD5 and when we arrive we have a balloon bouquet and DisneyPark gifts for her! This is the hotel my DD asks for when we book a trip! Last trip (Jan. 2012) our rental van would not start after we had checked out. The front desk called somebody to jump us and also called the rental company to inform them of the problem. The did not leave our side until we were on the road. I appreciated them going above and beyond for us. :thumbsup2

Took my girl scout troop to Disneyland last summer and was THRILLED with the condition of this hotel. I own DVC points at the Grand Californian but would not hesitate to stay here again if I needed to save points. The remodel made a huge difference for me. The rooms actually felt a bit bigger and there is a Pizza Hut Express, not to mention McDonalds just outside which was handy with pre teen girls.

Customer service was excellent. The room assigner actually emailed me a week before my reservation to confirm requests. A key thing to ask for when staying here, IMO, is to have a PARK or HARBOR facing room. This doesn't necessarily mean park view but the other side of the building is looking at nothing but parking lot and really would take away from the experience for me.

Our last stay we were in the building side next to the pool, looking over the pool. I would request that side again when staying here. It was nice for me as I could watch the girls and other chaperones swim with the door propped open. The pool is pretty minimal so if a nice pool is important to you, this is definitely a drawback here.

Have a great trip!

For what it's worth, we stayed here in December of 2010 and thought it was good for what it was. As long as you go into it knowing that you're staying at a moderate motel, then you will be fine. The only reson I haven't stayed there recently is bcause my DH wanted to be right at the crosswalk, so we go to PVI now.

I'm sure everyone has a different concept of "too cold to swim"...but in April the average temp is mid to upper 70's.....and for me, that's good swimming weather!

We have stayed here more times than we can count. Always a good expierence...but, if your next to the elevator ask to be moved...and you would in any hotel/motel. It makes sense to me if I were designing homes away from home, I would put vending and housekeeping in these areas.......have I stumbled on a new career??? :tink:
