It will be my first time at Universal and looking through the rides, I am afraid that almost everything seems to be a motion ride of some sort.

I get seriously motion sick and claustrophobic on motion rides (can't do Body Wars, Star Tours, etc)

Will there be much for me to do, or will most rides make me queasy?:crazy2:

Thanks!

I also suffer from motion sickness, as well as an inner ear trauma that left me with vertigo. I positively LOVE both parks!!! Granted, there will be more for you to do at Universal than Islands as far as rides, but at IOA, you should be able to do the Seuss Trolley ride, Posidean's Adventure, Popeye's Bilge Barge and Spiderman if you close your eyes during one short section of the show. It's not at all a simulator like Star Tours or Body Wars -- it's an open buggy similar to Dinosaur over at MGM.

Now, if you don't mind drops and spinning rides, there's even more to ride at Islands. The theming can't be beat, tho, IMO. Even waiting for your group while they go on a thrill ride is fun -- sitting in the HP world or in the Marvel world or even just outside the Port of Entry along the lake is just gorgeous.

The only things I can't do at Universal are the Mummy, Rockit and Simpsons. MIB is a buggy type of vehicle, open and you're not looking at any screens, but there is a point where it spins three times. Any more than three times, I don't think I could handle. This is coming from someone who can't ride in the backseat of a car because I get so motion sick!

Hope you have a wonderful time!

Men In Black made me queasy. Spiderman made me queasy. Popeye's made me queasy.

I didn't attempt some of the biggies (Hulk, Mummy, Dueling Dragons which has a new name now).

I had no problem on Jurassic Park, Jaws, Caro-seussel, Dudley Do-Right, One Fish, Two Fish, and Disaster.

There were things which are not rides at all, such as Sinbad, Twister, Terminator, Shrek 4D, and the I Love Lucy Tribute. They won't make you queasy.

The only ride I can't do is Jimmy Neutron strangely enough. It doesn't seem to bother most people though. The only other true simulator is the Simpsons but I handle it OK.

Other rides... There is a small section in FJ that makes me queasy but if I close my eyes I'm OK. Spiderman has a simulator element but it actually moves so it's OK. Men in Black and Cat in the Hat spin sometimes but if you can handle that you should be fine.

I would say they do seem to have alot of motion type rides. I was queasy for a couple of days after MIB. And that is probably nothing to alot of people. There wasn't alot of rides I went on at Universal, but I didn't mind that much. My wife and 5 year old had a great time. And that put a smile on my face. :)

Simulators: Spider Man, Harry Potter, Jimmy Nuetron, Simpsons
Spinning: MIB, Cat in the Hat, Storm Force, Popeye(its a rapids ride) One fish two fish (think Dumbo)
Coasters:HULK, Dragons, Rockit
Little Coasters:Hippogriff, Mummy (doesn't loop), Woody woodpecker
Everything else is an easy ride or show.

The I Love Lucy Tribute makes me queasy:laughing:

Seriously, I too get motion sickness on simulators, spinning rides and sometimes coasters. I love the theme parks and have to keep up with my boys, so I have tried many remedies including dramamine, sea bands, ginger gum, MotionEaze and Transderm Scop patch. Dramamine makes me too tired. Sea bands, ginger gum and MotionEaze had no effect. For me, the transderm scop patch is most beneficial. It greatly reduces the queasy feeling while I still enjoy the ride and does not make me drowsy at all.
