This is kind of new to us over the last few months so I was wondering if he is just getting that much worse or if it is just a really bad time of year for asthma? He has another appointment with the allergist next week, but I was just wondering if it is everone or just him....

UPDATE: Thanks for all of your responses. The school called (he got so congested that he vomited) and I ended up getting him and going right to the doctor. Now he is on:
Singulair
Zyrtec
Albuteral (nebulizer) every 4 hours
oral steroids (once a day)
inhaled steroids (twice a day)
And, Augmentin (twice a day)

I hope I can keep all this straight!!!!

And to top that, he almost got car sick on the way home:( . The kid just can't seem to catch a break!

My asthma is always bad this time of year...change in the temps does it for me, and the leaves eginning to die and fall off the trees. Hope your son feels better!

my asthma has been getting worse too....same as my migraines. They both get really bad this time of year. :( I hope your DS feels better. Its one thing to be 22 with asthma than to be a child with asthma.

Both my daughters have it. They have more attacks when the temperature changes from day to day. Is he just diagnosed? You said this was all new. That's the hardest time. Once you get yourself on a program, it's easier to manage, even when you hit a "bad season".

My 8yo DD has cycles. She's on several maintence drugs and they do help but sometimes she still doesn't do very well.

Spring and Fall seem to be the worst times of the year for me. First when things are blooming, then when things are going to seed.

If you're concerned, though, take him in to the DR and have the doc check him out.

I must have used my inhaler 10 times last night.... mine is certainly bad lately!!

My 6yodds asthma has been great since we got rid of the cats last year, (sorry cat people)! She hasn't had to take meds yet if you can believe it. But 2 days ago she was running outside in the cooler air an came in huffin' & puffin' so yes I guess the temp change does something.
I suppose I should start her up on her albuterol esp with all of your stories.

My sister's asthma has been really bad these last two weeks. We are from Minnesota and one day the weather the weather will be 70 (yesterday) and the next 45 (tomorrow).

Luckily, I go to the local thrift store and was able to get her two nebulizers (one for her home and one for mine). These things are a life saver when she is having a bad attack. It isn't good for a person to take too many puffs on the inhaler (and sometimes they don't seem to work no matter how many times you use them). Ask your doctor if you can have a prescription for a nebulizer - they are great for bad asthmatics! We take the lightest one on our trips to WDW.

By the way thanks for starting this post. It made my sister feel better that it wasn't only her that was having an increase in attacks.

DH's asthma always flares up in the cooler weather. Fall and winter are the worst seasons for him.

Now is the time that everything starts getting moldy (dead leaves and what not) so most people's allergies and asthma will act up.
