If I ever book another cruise that stops in Ensenada, I will not get off the ship. We have been there twice: the first time, we went on the wine tour and it was ok but it boiled down to a long bus ride to sample some wine we didn't like (we did buy some really good olive oil on the wine tour). The second time, we just went on our own and it was horrible. We got overcharged in a restaurant; I argued awhile until my wife and kids were uncomfortable and finally just paid it and left. Basically, they told us they had a special on beer and tacos (not lying, they were $1 each) and then they charged us $15 for each of my wife and kids' non-alcoholic beverages. They seemed so nice when having us enter the establishment and I did not ask up front for the price of water and soda. I have not had a problem like this at other cruise ports and it was a learning experience. I am from Arizona and have traveled to Mexico numerous times (Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, Rocky Point) and have never disliked a stop like Ensenada.
I have my first stop in Nassau in December 2018, so I cannot compare.
