Is Emeril's "show" or just food?

My DS13 is a big fan of the cooking channel and of course of Emeril himself. However, he's not a particularly adventurous eater. Is there any kind of show at either of the Emeril's restaurants (I realize Emeril isn't going to come out and cook for us!)? Do you wantch anyone cook or is any of it about ingredients, etc.? Or is it just good (albeit expensive) food? Thanks for any help!

It's a restaurant with very good, but expensive, food. They have a chef's table where you can watch and talk with the chefs while they cook but it's usually in high demand so availability could be low. You could try calling the restaurant and check on the availability of the chef's table on the day of your visit.

You're probably better off eating somewhere else more in line with a 13 year old's tastes (HRC, Margaritaville, etc). I'd say wait until he's a bit older and develops a broader range of food interests before eating at Emeril's.

You can walk in and look around, plus they have some gift shop type items for sale, so that might be good enought for your son for now.

there's a limited kid menu with anything from mac and cheese to a kids filet. there's no open kitchen to watch, but there is a window on the right side of the building that allows you to watch the dessert kitchen at work.

It is fantastic and I make a point of eating there every visit to Orlando no matter where I'm staying. Something about their menu, almost everything appeals to me.

You might try sitting at the 'bar' that faces the kitchen. We did that for lunch once. As you walk in, look to your right and it's against the far wall. You can see one station, I think it was the pizza oven station but could also see a bit into the kitchen. You could also see the dessert station pretty well and watch them flaming those huge homemade marshmallows for the desserts. Of course I had to have one after watching them do it for an hour!

It's not a show, but this 'bar' area next to the kitchen can be fun. Note, you sit on bar stool type high chairs. Can't remember how many it can accomodate, 5-8 I think. And bar is just the term I use as it fits it well, there is not a bartender.

Thanks everyone for the help! It's great to know that you can actually look around inside (and maybe shop!) without eating there. We were planning on Margaritaville (we're all Buffett fans) and Mythos (so we don't have to leave IOA during the day) already, and that seemed to be stretching it.

I had read about the chef's dinner and it sounds really cool, but I'd also read the price and don't think he'd get THAT much out of it - especially if he didn't want to try a lot of the food. I think we'll definitely stop by and check it out but may not eat there. If he REALLY wants to, we'll try to come back for lunch and try the bar suggestion from Claymax.

Thanks again!
