is Emerald Reserve really that different from the old Emerald Aisle?

Okay, everyone ... take a deep breath and relax.

I temporarily closed this thread while doing a little cleaning up of things that got heated between two of the parties posting here.

There are as many individual experiences as there are individuals posting on this board. One person may experience something that another person doesn't, different locations operated by the same company may have different offerings in different locations, and most certainly things (rental offerings, policies, etc.) change over time (and sometimes at a moment's notice).

One of the posting guidelines, as I'm sure everyone is aware, is 3. NO FIGHTING. If you have a problem or disagreement with someone in particular, do not air it here in the open forum. Take it to PMs or e-mail.

This isn't one of the guidelines, but is pure common sense -- Before you click on the "submit" button, re-read what you have written. If something about it could offend or insult someone, think twice about posting and do some editing.

We now return to the thread already in progress. Everyone have a great weekend. :)

Emerald Club Aisle Service® Simply bypass the counter with our exclusive Emerald Club Aisle Service. This service, available only to Emerald Club members, gets you on the road quickly in a well-maintained General Motors car - without stopping at the rental counter. If you travel on business, or if you just don't like standing in line, you'll really appreciate the speed and priority service of Emerald Club. Emerald Club Aisle Service is available at most major U.S. airport locations.

Emerald Reserve Service Introducing new Emerald Reserve Service, exclusively for Emerald Club® members. Whether you reserve a fullsize car, SUV, minivan or any other vehicle, you'll be amazed at the speed and convenience of this new service. With Emerald Reserve, you'll be able to reserve any car type, excluding intermediate. When you arrive at the location, you'll bypass the counter, go directly to the row of the car class reserved, choose any car and drive away. It's that easy!

While the official policy does not state that you will only find intermediate cars on the EA if you read between the lines it really does. Bottom line reserve the size car you want. Join the Emerald Club and bypass the counter and pick out any car from the section containing the size car you rented. Picking out yuor own car is especially nice because you can get in and see if the car has an offending smell or is high mileage, etc.

There is no such thing as an EA card. There is only an Emerald Club card which is free. Please let me know if you need a link for free membership to the Emerald Club.
You are absolutely correct, typo. The number is on the back of your EC card or on the card that it was attached to when you joined or the letter that accompanied the card.
The EC is not free unless you know where to go. Thanks for the offer but, I have had one for literally years. I got it free via Biz Travel a long long time ago.

I don't think anyone disputes what the current rules are. Regarding the question of a previous reservation under the old system, if you have a confirmation that says full size, I would go to the full size aisle. That's what I did and it was no problem. If they question it, I would show the confirmation with the full size wording. In the future, I plan on just making a full size reservation because we need trunk room for luggage (take way too much, that's another story;) ), it's only a few dollars more.

One thing I forgot to mention about my experience yesterday. The line at Dollar was really long. I'd say about 10 people were at Alamo and no one was in line at National!

My comments were not directed at the old ressie question. The original poster asked how the old system differed from the new and I was clearly spelling out the new rules to the original poster just so there was no misunderstanding. Many people do not even bother to read the website of companies. If you reread the original posters comments nowhere does he state that he has an old ressie. He is obviously versed in the old system and would like info on the NEW system. I answered his question factually and without personal attacks.

Now I am Confused

I reserved my car a long time ago (great rate) before the change but it reads EA and have a full size on the paper requested. So what car do I take? :D It used to be if I did not like the full size selection we would sneek over to the full size isle and select one and they never said anything cause it was a full size car, but what can we take now, only the EA intermediate's?

Thanks, MKY  :earsgirl:

If you reserved a full sized you will be guaranteed a full size, reference to aisles is all a marketing ploy. No need to sneek to the full size aisle. Walk over with your head held high and pick out the car of your choice from the full size selection of cars.

I suggest you go back and re-read your posts. You posted (maybe you didn't read what you posted) wrong information and now deny posting it.
Your previous post.

this is not true. Just because you belonged to the free club did not get you a full size for an intermediate price

Your statement was corrected by at least 3 others.
