Is early February too cold for resort beaches and pools?

I am thinking of booking the Poly for Feb 4-12th. I am wondering if it's too cold in early February to really use the resort beaches and pools. Can anyone give me any advice about the weather this time of year at Disney? If it is too cold, I'll wait and do the Poly our next trip.

Thanks!

We were at AKL Feb. 5-9, 2005. We never swam, but people were in the pool every time we looked. Even in the morning!. The temps ranged from mid 50s- mid 70s.

We were there this past Jan, and my kids swam even a little after dark. It was cold when you got out of the water, so we would run to the room when they got out :goodvibes . Dh and I were there feb 8 - 15 2003, and we layed out at the poly on the beach. I do not think we got much sun, but it was relaxing. Mostly, I think the weather is just so iffy. Some days it was short sleeves and others we were in jackets :confused3

It's too cold for me to swim, Early feb. can be colder than dec. at times. I don't swim till May.

hi,
not sure about the beaches, but the pools at the resorts are heated.i did swim a little last feb at pop.the water was warm.as long as you got out and went to your room, you were ok.i also will be there at cbr same time have fun planning.

Late January/early February is my favorite time of year to go! Yes, the weather can be fickle at times, but I love it. :sunny:

Hope you do too! :wizard:

Most of the times we've been had days that are warm enough to swim, but the weather can turn on a dime, so be prepared!

It will probably be too cold for the beach. It was for us the first week in March. I thought we were all going to die of hypothermia when we went to the beach.

To the OP,

You may already know this, but you can't swim at any of the beaches. My friend went down this summer and her TA never told her they couldn't use the lake at CB - that's the reason she picked that resort. When will they lern to ask me???

I lived in Orlando one winter. It was in the mid 80's from 2/1 until early May when I came home. I think you can get any type of weather that time of year. If you are only planning to stay at the Poly because of the pool and beach area, I would do that a different time of year.

The thing about Florida in the winter is: you never know until you get there.

A lot depends on what you are used to, we are from PA., and darn it, if it's over 70, we're swimming! It's always below freezing in February here.

You just can't tell what the weather will be like because every year February can be so different from the one before. So bring your suits and watch the Weather Channel, it could be in the high 70's or low 60's on any given day. Disney resort pools are heated, so that is a plus, too.

We stayed at the Contemporary for ten days in Feb 05 and it was 80 or near 80 every day we were there. On the day we arrived the first thing the kids wanted to do was swim. The two years before we needed hats and gloves. I believe in 04 we were there when Orlando had a record low temp. We go to Disney at the end of Jan or Feb every year and it has been about 50/50 with the weather

We were there Feb 5 - 12, 2005 and there were a couple of very hot days (80's). The pools are heated and there was only one day I never seen anyone in the pools and that was a day that I think it only reached 60*. We went to Daytona Beach after WDW and there were also people swimming but we found the water way too cold, although it was hot enough to sit on the beach in swimsuits. It may be warmer on the gulf side.
