Is early February crowded due to Mardi Gras?

My husband and I were looking at Universal for the first week in February. I have been reading about Mardi Gras. What happens at the park for Mardi Gras? parades, shows, etc??

Should we change our plans to late January to avoid crowds?

We didn't find the crowds bad during Mardi Gras. And we went during President's week.

Yeah ... parades and some special shows are the biggest difference and Mardi Gras in the parks is darned delightful. It's not that big a difference in terms of crowds, IMO ... more crowded that the weeks before and after, WAY less crowded than summer or spring break. I'd just go for and enjoy the party.

I went opening weekend in February and did hit crowds

Food areas lines too long and crowded for us to deal with

Left soon after when the musical performance started

Not bad crowds during the day
