I was wondering if it is worth going to Downtown Disney? I wasn't sure if it is worth the day to go to? If so, what is there that i should see?

From what I have read, and also learned from here. Downtown disney is Dining, Shopping, and entertainment. You have La nouba (sp) which is Cirque de soile(sp), then you have Pleasure Island, this consists of many of the Adult clubs (BET club, adventurers club, 8 trax, so forth, Shopping (World of disney, and other various shops, Dining (wolfgang pucks, raglan road, Portabello yacht club, rainforest cafe, house of blues, earl of sandwich. It's mainly ment to go have fun, shop, dine.:bride:

It's nice to take a break from the parks and go to Downtown Disney to do some souvenir shopping. The World of Disney store is absolutely huge and has lots of wonderful things to look at...whether you're buying, or just window shopping. We usually plan our visit on the last day of our trip after we have checked out of the resort but still have a few hours before our flight leaves. If you have young children, the Lego store has some awesome Lego sculptures. Also, if you need to visit Guest Services, there's a location at DD that is very convenient as they stay open fairly late and there's usually no wait.

We go there mainly for souvenir shopping, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and lunch at Wolfgang Puck's Express if we're on DDP - best CS lunch ever! I can't see spending the whole day there, but that's just me.

We love the shops at DTD and we have only done one side. Last year we went to Disney Quest and that was fun. There are also some good restaurants.

We always do most of our souvenir shopping there. It's a great place to take a break from the parks when they are at their busiest. :thumbsup2

When we went in December, there was live entertainment and live carolers next to the Earl of Sandwich. Our kids loved it and we ended up going several nights to see the carolers. There was also other entertainment. There were some school bands playing Christmas music in the stage area. It was festive and we enjoyed our nights there.

I think it's worth checking out. We only spent a couple of hours there. It's a nice break from the parks.

We go to eat at one of the restaurants, to shop a bit, take in at least one movie per trip.
But never ever would we do anything there as regards "nightlife". Most of the time we'll go in the afternoon. The latest we've stayed around for dinner was after Raglan Road (around 10:00). Most often we've left the area (after dinner) around 7:30 or so.

We love DTD...go there several times during our trip. I was a little disappointed in Boardwalk tho...for what it is worth.

It's definately worth it.The Cirque show is top notch, there's a House of Blues right next door that brings in REAL headliners.
DisneyQuest lets you play 'old school' video games for free and has some other neat activities too.
There's all sorts of good food and specilty shops.Great places for the souveignEARS you want/need to get.
Just be careful that Stitch doesn't spit on you when you go to the WOD store!! :)

It was a let down for us, because we didn't really feel like we were in the World, just in a mall.

But we're still glad we did it, because now we know. So I'd say plan on spending a few hours there if you have the time, so you can form your own ideas about it.

Just try not to do it on the last full day, like we did! It wasn't a very magical way to end our trip. :sad1:

I like to go as a cheaper fix of disney. Since there is no admission fee to marketplace and westside. I love just going from shop to shop in marketplace. I may be going down tomorrow night just to get a little disney magic for the week, even though I live an hour and a half away. It is a good break from the parks.

We like going there, esp. to see all the cool Lego creations! My boys love Legos and enjoy that part of DTD. We are planning on going our first night since we arrive late afternoon to our resort, which is the POR that has a boat to take us to DTD. It will give us someplace to go and walk around after we settle into our room that first day.

We usually spend a few hours in DTD during our trip. DD likes getting her hair done at BBB. We also like shopping here and getting a meal in one of the restaurants.

So how does DTD work, it's free to walk around there ? But it costs to go to the clubs at night ? How much is that and how much to see Cirque de Soleil ? My wife would like to see that but it's probably too expensive since we're already strectching the budget.

We absoultely LOVE DTD! It's a great break away from the hustle & bustle of the parks. It may be busy, but you can meandor at your own speed. We went 3 times in Dec. and we were at the World for 8 days - so - I guess that shows we really like it!

Cirque du Soleil costs $63 to $112 per adult depending on seating: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/moreMagic/cirquedusoleil/entertainmentDetail?id=DTDCirqueEntertainmentPage

You can get the Water Park Fun & More option for your tickets, which includes Pleasure Island passes (but not Cirque), for $50 per adult (includes admission to water parks and Disney Quest; number of admission depending on how many days worth of theme park tickets you buy, but it's not 1:1). Or you can pay for one night per adult for $20.95.

We did the Water Park Fun & More option on our first trip to WDW. It was worth it because we had access to just about everything there, and so could see what we liked and what we didn't like. It basically pays for itself if you go to two or more of the things it pays for, or go to one of them twice.

whether it's worth it or not depends on what you like, and if it is part of your disny MYW tix.

My wife and I have been to Disney 2x and are going back in 14 days.....:cool1:

DTD contains a lot of different things....you have the shops; restaraunts such as; woolfgang pucks, rainforest cafe, house of blues, etc....you have Disney Quest,,,pretty cool,,,it's more like an interactive arcade (costs extra unless it's part of your package)

on the other side you have Pleasure Island, this is more Adult Enterainment, from what i remember it is now free to get into pleasure island, which apparently is a bummer because you have people ranging in ages, however, you can't get into the clubs if you are under 21, except the comedy club, and i believe the adventurers club you have to be 18 or over for these 2 (i think)...the clubs are not free (unless it is part of your package),,,i would highly recommend the adventurers club,,,,it's a lot of fun and i feel it is worth it,,,remember you are in a tourist destination,,,,12 oz bottle coors light, $4.00........that was 2005....

they have everything from jazz to dance clubs,,,,

i hope this info helps....

have a magical day!!!

Every trip to WDW my family and i go on, we go to DTD at least two times for about 4-5 hours and just SHOP. There are so many stores, and not to forget about Pint central marketplace, its so fun.
