Is doubling up for Signature restaurants worth it?

Is upgrading from regular table service to a Signature restaurant worth sacrificing another table service option? I look at the price ratio of counter, table service, and Signature to be about 1:2:3 , such that table is twice as expensive as counter and Signature 50% more than table. If I sacrificed a table service to move up to Signature, I'd have to make up for the lost meal with counter service. So basically, is losing an entire table service dinner plus 10$ more for counter service really worth the difference between table and Signature? I know there are other criteria to consider besides monitary value, but I'm focusing there for this comparison.

I see this is your first post, welcome!

For the DDP we do not focus on the monetary value only. We like to do a signature restaurant each visit. We will do a CS instead of a TS one night. Usually we will use 1 CS credit and buy 1 entree and split the dessert. So yes, to us it is worth it. Also, I hate to be dictated to by the DDP!

Not worth it at all IMO. The math does not add up as far as which costs more. I LOVE the hoop de doo, but we just paid out of pocket for it this year. 40+40=80. The first row seats at hoop de doo cost 59.00 a piece. Trading in dining plan does not even if give you the best seats.

I know your question was about sig meals, but the same is true with that. Do you really see yourself eating $80 worth of food? Maybe at victoria and alberts but that is about it.

I would just pay cash for your one sig meal and use the extra dining on your last day that is not covered by DDP. (you only get the amount of meals = to the NIGHTS you spend at the hotel, not the DAYS you have in the park).

This is a really simplistic answer, but dollar wise, the plan is a good deal if a 1 TS meal is worth about $25.

meal $25
beverage $2
tax $2
tip $5

That's a TS meal that would cost you about $34 OOP. The DDP is $39/day per adult, and you get that meal plus a CS meal and a snack worth up to $4. For a 2 TS meal to be worth it, it needs to be worth about $50-$52 (the CS and snack can still be used at another time).

You can break even if the meal is less, but the less the OOP would have been, the less of a "deal" the plan is, and things like convenience and that the plan is prepaid become more of the overall value.

meal $15
beverage $2
tax $1
tip $3
total $21

CS meal valued about $10, snack $4, daily total OOP would have been $35, a little under the DDP price. So to break even, you are probably looking more like $18 for a TS meal before tax and tip.

I agree. I have the DDE card which we use in addition to the DDP, so nights we want to do a signature restaurant or dinner show we just pay OOP and get the 20% off with the DDE, then use the extra TS for a lunch one day, so we'll have a CS to use on our last day.

We like to do a 2TS on each trip because it gives us a little more free time. Our first trip we did 1 TS every day and found ourselves slaves to the plan. We'd get to the park mid morning(not early risers) and do a couple things before lunch which we never seemed to get around to before 1or2 then it was almost time for supper. Our day was just too broken up. Now we have a few lazy impulsive CS days thrown in. Last visit we tried Artist Point and this time we are trying Narcoosees.

its very much worth it! Try the california grill, well worth it!YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY!!!

last september we went to narcoosees twice on DDP during our 7 night visit (used other 3 TS at le cellier, concourse steakhouse and liberty tree tavern)

had CS for lunches, other dinners as well

worked well for us - we're not big eaters at home

doing this same this coming october - planning to use snack credits at F&W booths

not having any ADRs the first and last days we're there either

It depends.

Our upcoming trip has us arriving at OKW around 10:30pm, so we won't be using any credits that day. We will be leaving late afternoon our departing day, not enough time for a TS credit for dinner, but could do breakfast. We had to decide if we wanted to use that TS for breakfast or just eat in our room and use that for a Signature Meal. We're going with the Signature Meal at Yachtsman Steakhouse.

Unless Disney will let us knock off one day from our DDP, since we're arriving so late at night and won't be using any credits that first day, that's how it stands now. Who knows, though, I change our itinerary more than some people change their underwear! :)

We have the DDP for a four-night stay, but we only have three dinners because of our late arrival time the first night, and a departure right after breakfast on the day we leave. We decided to use 2TS credits to do the Fantasmic package at the Brown Derby on one of the nights. If we were arriving earlier I might have looked at it differently, but I can't see us eating 2 TS meals in one day, so we decided on one "signature" dinner to make sure all our TS credits get used.

The plan is the same whether you pay for it or if it is free. We paid for it last year because we were on DVC points during free dining and there was nothing that distinguished us from the FDP folk.:) :)
