My dd's school goes to camp for a couple days right before Easter. For cleanliness reasons(and because the weather is always terrible) we are not letting her go(this will be in 2 years when she is in the 5th grade). We usually pull our kids out for a week in November and go to Disney World each year, so decided we will forego that(have done it 6 years straight, ready for a change). So now I am already thinking about where to go that week. NYC is one option, the other would be going to California with stops at Disneyland. Just wondering if it is as crazy busy in disneyland as it is in Disney world right nwo. thanks.

Simply put......YES

The week before Easter and the week after are some of the busiest weeks at DL, sometimes more crowded than summer.

Easter mornings are fairly light. The crowds don't show up until around 11AM-Noon, and the park empties out again in the evening.

Plus, SoCal passes are blocked that day. In this economy, SoCal blocked days are turning out to be lighter crowds.

Easter at Disneyland is very manageable. It is not the disaster Easter is at WDW. I did that once, never again.

We have done a family vacation during spring break the past few years. The past years have been at WDW, last week was DL. There was simply no comparison. I know people have posted that it gets busy at DL, but it was nothing like WDW. We commented to each other how nice it was not having big crowds (during the day), long waits, etc. We didn't have to use a lot of fastpasses because in many instances, rides were walk-on or 5-10 minute waits. Where we did see the larger crowds was in the evening during the fireworks. It may have changed our minds about where to vacation future spring breaks. We are leaning towards DL in March/April and WDW in Oct.

I think it depends on when Easter falls.

Generally, the week before and the week after Easter are expected to be some of the busiest days in the parks. The park hours reflect that, since it's open from 8-midnight with a full entertainment schedule.

Last year, Easter was early, in March, and that coincided with the usual spring breaks that many schools take. It was INSANE. I can't compare it to WDW, having never been there, but it was so busy by early afternoon that the wait just to GET A FASTPASS for Indy was 15 minutes. :scared1:

I understand this year wasn't quite so bad, although still very busy for DL. That might be due to the economy, too.

Personally, I will avoid both spring break and the weeks before and after Easter, in the future. Yikes!

Hope that helps!

We are going on Saturday, but just during the day. Since we have AP we figure if we only get on a couple of rides, that is okay. Since we have small children and the Easter Bunny comes early to our house , then we will leave in the afternoon. So I hope the crowds aren't too bad.

If we would go in 2011, Easter is very late, April 24th..... I would probably be going the week before(and only at disneyland a fewdays) so maybe I could plan it for like the 17th, 18th. Guess I have time to decide, but I am one who likes to plan my trips well in advance. thanks much.
