Is disney trying to limit split stays!

Interesting question. I personally have never been a fan of the split stay b/c I like to unpack and settle in to enjoy vacation (and am lazy :rolleyes1 )

I used packing cubes and there was no repacking to do. I used different colors for GF and YC and only unpacked the cubes I designated for that particular resort. Away bags have built in laundry bags so just tossed clothes in there as I used them. Toiletries took all of 5 minutes to put away in the morning. It was no more complicated than a regular stay tbh

They don't have refrigerated trucks to move the stuff and there is no set amount of time it takes to moves things. and when were there last October there was a family at bell services with so much stuff and they were mico managing the crap out the poor CM's.

Add me to the I would never leave any meds in my bags for transferring list.

I always transport all meds myself. We have never had a problem with anything getting lost but I don't want to risk it.

I understand why they are doing this. But, when we have done split stays with DVC, it was really nice having them move all of our groceries. It will just modify our plans slightly.

They will still transfer in hard coolers. As they don't have refrigerated trucks, and are likely making plenty of stops along the way, plus the time it takes to load and unload, I'd actually prefer they not give the intention my perishables are remaining at proper temperature. Because they're probably not. This is safer for everyone.

Took me an hour to chop off some days at the end of my next stay as I was able to book two nights in a BC villa and had to cancel the two nights at the end of my POP visit to accommodate. The cast member told me that SHE couldn't just take the two nights off of POP and she had to contact some sort of customer service to do that. I've never heard of such a thing, but held on while she did that. All in all, it took me one hour on the phone to accomplish this.....
Most likely there were date/stay restrictions at that resort at that time, as in a minimum number of nights.

Hard coolers? Sorry. I'm from Texas. I'm imaging leaving a big ole Yeti for bell services to move.

I am an Away power user as well and I have to say that your idea of colour-coding the packing cubes for split stays is pure genius!

I'm surprised Disney ever took the responsibility by transferring items requiring refrigeration.

Disney would have completely stopped transferring luggage between resorts if they want to discourage split stays.

Thanks! I picked up a 4 set of pink and 6 set in brick when Away had that first ever sale last year, the pink went in the Bigger Carryon which was for GF and the brick went in my checked Medium for YC. That was my first split stay and I was worried it would be too stressful but this system worked out even better than I thought. As an ADHDer color coding is something that works good with my brain though.

Lol I got a bunch of the sets during the sale too! I am embarrassingly kitted out with their stuff at this point.

I am totally stealing this idea in a few weeks 8-)

I read on another thread that items could spend more than three hours in the transport van, depending on how many stops they had to make. That alone would make me transport my own foods. It would be worth the cost of a ride share to ensure I didn’t end up with food poisoning. They are still able to hold your items in refrigerators at the hotel, just not while being transported, so it really makes sense to move it yourself or place two orders, one for each hotel.

I am not sure how people who fly would manage a hard cooler. Would we go back to the days of the refrigerator exchange, where coolers are passed from guest to guest?
