Is Disney smoking crack or what???

I looked up the two ships / dates that have been discussed and it seems that HAL is in port longer on a few of the ports then RCCL. Could that be the reason :confused3

Good observation! I do think ships pay more in port fees for longer stays.

Being from the UK I am very excited about the plans for 2010. I will start saving now for the Dover-Barcelona repo.

airfare to Baltic and/or Med. is what is making us think what to do, if that was a good reasonable price it wouldn't be a problem for us:goodvibes

i was really thinking about doing the 19 night cruise with the 7 night repo and the 12 night baltic until i seen those prices. they want 1900 for a cat 11 for a 7 night repo way over priced. than again they might get it. now im thinking about doing the 24 night cruise the last med than the 14 night repo. i can do the 24 night cruise for about the same price as the 12 night baltic. do you think with all the excitement on this board that we drove up the prices?

We did this years Mexico trip knowing it may be awhile for our next Disney cruise. I'm waiting for 2011/12, to see where the new ships will be.

For our Disney fix, we head up to DL:cool1: It's a great place to dream about cruising:love:

Pretty much!:thumbsup2 We are taking our very first and very last cruise with Disney in December. Rccl will get our business with those kinds of elitist prices.

Us too. We sail on our first cruise every on October 16th, but at these prices I doubt we will be able to go back....at least for a while. We plan to book a bouceback while at CBR for a value next fall, however if airfare stays the way it has been we may have to travel to Disneyland rather then WDW after this year.

Thanks for all the opinions....

Compared to the Mediteranean Cruise I noticed we get one more sea day from the 12 nighter we took (The Baltic Seas are 13 nights). So, 4 sea days... that's a lot of resting time. Most of the ports only have 8 hours of time at the port except for Berlin & St Peterburg. Berlin worries me a bit since it is 3 hours away from the port. I thought, Rome was far from the port. So, I feel the cruiseline is important because I don't want to be bored those last 2 days at sea.

We had the most magical Mediteranean Cruise. My kids ended up meeting the best family onboard. They had two girls just like ours and we had wonderful cruise together. They went to the show together and the kids club. Swam together at the pool. They even wanted to have a sleepover at the end but of course that was out of the question. But it was a cute idea. At the last port, we even hired a private guide and did a tour. It was truely a MAGICAL cruise.

If they aren't selling well enough and with this economy... they may not be... wait to see if they drop the prices... The economy sucks overseas too, so if they were betting on the local european travelers to sign on... these prices will probably change that.

If the economy doesn't recover well enough by then... they'll have to adjust them.. they did it with the TA that year - and I know it wasn't as popular as the others, but if it's not selling, then they will have to cut prices...

Of course there will be people who will book it and cancel at pay out date - sort of like they do for free dining... but that gives Disney false expectations that the cruises will be full.

BTW... I think these prices were set LONG before the economy tanked... :sad2:

if think that could be part of the problem. not all of it, but I know a lot of people do that. Just my guess. I know we don't do that we find a cruise we like and go on it.:goodvibes

& did anyone notice that there are no prices for Cat 12's??? Only cat 11 and up?

Sorry, girls had dance classes, I am back now. :)

Some were asking about the kids clubs on the other cruiselines. I have a collection of kids schedules from all of the other cruiselines mentioned...so you can see for yourself....each cruiseline has it's own section...feel free to look around. Just click "List all" when you get to each cruiseline.

The collections is here...

Here's another one... Celebrity actually spends overnight in St. Petersburg and overnight in Stockholm. Sounds like a great cruise. This is for an Oceanview room (they were sold out on the Verandahs)... Price is listed as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & total. Their taxes aren't as high as Hals...

Cruise: 2,329.00 2,329.00 999.00 999.00 6,656.00
Fuel Supplement: 140.00 140.00 70.00 70.00 420.00
Taxes: 127.77 127.77 127.77 127.77 511.08
Total Price: 2,596.77 2,596.77 1,196.77 1,196.77 7,587.08

I actually like this internary. It is 14 nights though.

These rooms look very small 170 sq feet.

For a disney category 8 it would be 11,544 but taxes would be additional. I included the max for fuel fees.

Thank you ... I'm gonna go check that out...

how do you get the prices? I try to get some quotes on DCL site but I can't? Did you get those price with a TA or by calling? Thanks.

Love the title of this thread, and I tend to agree.

However we are not the only country who loves Disney, and Europeans will most likely fill up those cabins. This is a bargain for them as they don't have to come over here to sail DCL.

I don't think DCL will have too many problems selling these cruises, and there may be some last minute deals, just like there are with all cruise lines.

No DCL in Europe for me. I love Disney and DCL, but they're not the only ones on the ocean. I've taken several cruises on other lines and while I enjoy Disney, they are not my first choice, even with kids. There are some amazing ships out there that are much newer than the Magic and Wonder and offer a whole lot more for guests.

I had the exact same shock when I saw the prices :scared1: I can now honestly say that we will be looking into other lines. And we absolutely love DCL.

Isn't DCL spending an overnight in St. Petersburg, too?

To me, 170 sq. feet is a decent-sized cabin. That's what I booked for my Celebrity TA cruise next year - in an inside cabin. Our OV cabin on Monarch of the Seas was 122 sq. ft. - but somehow my daughter and I survived. On my one and only Disney cruise. my mom and I had a handicap-accessible cat. 6 cabin. That thing was huge - as cruise ship cabins go. It had a very large balcony, too - which didn't get much use by us.

We do not know what the decision makers at Disney are smoking these days but they will need to give it to the wall street types who sail with them in the med they will be the only ones that can afford it and being high just might keep them from jumping over board with the dow down another 500 points today. we will be sailing on RCCL and it will take some outstanding deal to get us back Disney just does not get customer appreciation. We hope cruisers stay away from Disney in droves.
