Planning our first trip. 2 sons ages 6 & 9. Is Quest worth the additional price for tickets. We are staying 9 days.

If you are staying 9 days, you may want to consider adding the water parks fun and more option. That would include Disney Quest as well as the water parks. If your kids enyoy video games and such, they will likely enjoy DQ alot.

This is just my opinion, but if money is even a slight issue,I would say skip DQ.:) You won't understand until you get there, but WDW is HUGE and there is SO much to do,you will be experiencing sensory overload and I doubt DQ will even cross your mind again once you get there. But only you know how much your kids would enjoy a facility like DQ.:)

if you are planning on doing the water parks more than once. The water park and more option is a good deal. if you are doing water park only once, pay the regular ticket price, if you are not going to a water park it must be during the winter.

With 6 & 9 year old boys I say do it!!! If you arent interested in adding the water parks and more (becuase not going to water parks) go to Disneyquest for an afternoon/evening and give those boys the gift of DQ!!!! It will be right up their alley and they will love it! 5 stories of interactive arcade games, virtual reality games, race car games, and on and on an on! If they are typical boys then you just have to go!

**warning: DQ is a lot like Vegas......no windows, no clocks so you dont know what time it is and you WILL lose track of time! ;)

We did Disney Quest last summer, 2 Moms and 3 10 year Old boys. Our boys, all friends love video games and the like and it was a nice break from the heat and the parks, The single day price is reasonable and if it's part of a deuxe park hooper then it's built in. We got there at 10am and didn't leave there till 8pm. OMG, we stayed there that whole time, we did some of the interactive stuff with boys and then let them run around while we had coffee, snacks and good conversation. Some of the stuff is a blast. It wasn't crowded mid week and the older kids don't come to it till 7pm. Now the boys always ask to go. If you are there 9 days and get park overload syndrom this may just be a nice change.

I would go- get there at opening and be sure to do Pirates and Jungle Cruise (twice if possible!!). They are so much fun!

Its worth doing with the water parks and more option because you get the waterparks with it, and your kids will love that. I wouldn't pay just for the DQ though. I would pay just for the waterpark, I think they are the same price.

I like DQ but the fact of the matter is the power of gaming consoles in your house outstrips arcades now and the really fancy things at DQ are expensive for them to make and run it seems, so this leads to lines at the stuff that is truly great.

OKay I figured since my three boys insist they 'have' to go to DQ, that getting the WPFandM option with the MYW base tickets would be cheaper in the long run, since I know in the five days we will be there--they will be at DQ probably three days :) or at least part of three days.

Isn't it more cost effective to get the WPFandM option for DQ??

mmm, no. If you just do one or the other WPF and M costs more. If you do both once, it saves you 5 dollars I believe, so in that case yes. We usually only do 1 wp and dq once, but get the wpf and m because DQ is a nice distraction even though it would be cheaper if we skipped it. It's nice to have a lot of options and if you haven't done both wps thats fun, although with only 5 days like you, I'd do them both in one day if I were to do that.

I would not get the option just to do DQ. It's loud, crowded and dark and while the virtual reality games (POTC & alladins magic carpet) are cool, the rest are video games. Not what I paid a couple of thousand dollars to do. I also didn't like the fact that there are no time limits on the games, so some times we ran into a teenager who parked him/herself on a game and usually didn't give it up. Since it's indoors most parents let the kids run around. last 2 trips we skipped DQ altogether.

When i first heard of it i had no intention on going bt my DS wanted to go so we went and i LOVED it. at your son's ages they will love it. If you will go to a water park i would say add it to your tickets but if not then just go one afternoon and pay for it. They will love it there.

Only you know your kids. I really agree with all the comments made. We have been going for many years and have yet gone to DQ. Because you can use the WP&F option, we might try to go sometime ... but too much else to see.

If this is your first time at WDW, I would just plan on skipping it. There is too much else to do. You can always go back another time for a longer trip.

Well they've got their hearts set on it so I will have to take them at least once. Basically you all are saying to just buy a one day admission to DQ and NOT get the WPFandM option since I don't think they will be all that interested in the water parks?

Yes, that'd be the cheapest option, I think its 35 dollars per time and the wp and m is about 55 more? Something like that. Those are adult prices, roughly, but it works similarly for kid pricing, just less.

The issue may arise they want to go more than once though, the only difficulty I see with that is the location of DQ does take awhile to get to compared to parks. Which resort are you at? DTD in general takes a bit more to navigate because you have to walk quite a bit through the various stores. I don't think its an exageration to say for 2 hours at DQ you'll spend 3 to 3.5 hours total including traveling from your resort and walking to it, and the time spent at DQ. This means a lot of time spent moving around relative to time spent there for the few attractions the kiddies may want to do more than once, and there aren't that many. Space mountain build a coaster, the pirates of the caribean (this is actually an amazing ride, toy story uses similar technology) and maybe jungle cruise, but i doubt it.

If you think though, they will love it (there are hundreds of arcade games, from very old to new, I'm not sure how much kids like the older ones, which are the ones i love because the new ones are better on ps3 and 360 anyways), and will want to come back again and again, the wp and m option would be worht it. If you do get that, I highly reccomend going to one of the water parks. The theming is amazing, spend three hours at one and you can do nearly everything if you go in the morning, and it feels like you spent so much more time there because of all the fun you had and things you saw. Then you still have an entire afternoon /evening of parks.

One FINAL thought (I PROMISE!!) on DQ. The descriptions of it are true on disney's site, but I think it creates higher expectations for the tech set then they deliver. This is a relatively static attraction in an industry that outdates itself in software about every 4 - 6 months with an extremely few exceptions. It outdates itself about once every 3 years in hardware. DQ doesn't reflect this, they don't have their own developers creating things constantly as the gaming industry does.

 I didn't know this was included. We got park hopper and water parks and more free for our trip next month and I had no idea this was included. Dh and ds will be very happy.

You make some very good points. It might be worth my while financially to just tell the kids, "you get today at DQ so enjoy" LOL and not buy the WPFAM option. I noticed UT does have discounted DQ tickets as well. Since we're arriving in the afternoon on Oct 22 and leaving in the afternoon on Oct 27, the argument could be made, there isn't that much time to go more than once anyways.:rolleyes1

They do have the resort pools at Pop (thats where we're staying) and not sure they are really 'into' water parks--they are very, very big on rides and I know TOT will be one of those "over and over" rides, they'd even get up early for EMH just to ride TOT :rotfl:

You have given me something to think about and maybe saved me some money. Thank you!
