is Disney Quest a good deal for the budget? Have you been there?

We have some left over "extras" on our tickets from a few years ago.:woohoo: I do believe they are good at a water park or at Disney Quest.

So if that gets us "in" to Disney Quest, does it cost additional to play the games? Can you leave and come back in the same day on the same ticket?

And what about lunch? Is it expensive there?

Have you been there? Could you spend a whole day there?

I'm trying to plan our BUDGET vacation to be as much fun for the kids as possible while trying to get the most bank from our buck so to speak.

Any advice from you, if you've been there, would be appreciated.

Everything at DQ is included in the ticket.
The CS retuarant is sponsered by Cheesecake factory and is AWESOME IMO. And I think its reasonably priced. You can also leave and come back if you want to eat elsewhere in DTD.

DQ is a great way to spend a day with kids that are into games. It doesn't open until early afternoon, so you have time to hangout at DTD marketplace and go through all the awesome shops.

I think you probably get more bang for your buck using a "extra" or plus at a waterpark, but we love DQ.

Check out www.allearsnet.com for restuarant menus and a lot more info about DQ.

I think its something everyone who is remotely interested in games should experience.

If mom or dad wants some down time the Wonderland cafe has free internet access, co you can chill while everyone else runs around. It's awesome!

My youngest son is a die-hard gamer; but was very disappointed in DQ.

Made the mistake of going on a Saturday, waited in line before it was open. Once it did, it took over 1/2 hour before we entered the bldg & we were among the 1st 10 waiting. Pirate ship ride down most of day; most of the stations where you make your own toy & art acad also out of order:confused3 . Did like the coaster design/VR:thumbsup2 . The alladin VR was fun too.

We thought the vintage games to be the best feature; except people were hogging them for long periods of time.

Food was priced par, a notch above imo.

I would highly recommend using your 'extra' at a water park instead. Frankly, we didn't stay too long at DQ because there weren't that many interesting games (really the only one my DD played was one she usually plays here at the local Red Robin).
The virtual games are pretty interesting, but not worth using an entire 'extra' on.
And be warned, some of the things we were looking forward to doing cost extra (a build your own toy thing, etc)so we didn't do everything.

Depends on the ages of the kids. Under 7, nope. 7 or older (and video game fans), yep.

DisneyQuest is a good deal, IMHO, considering how they used to charge. Back when it first opened, it was easy to spend $50, $60 in a couple of hours. So compared to that, it's a great deal!

And the burgers at the CF are the best, IMHO, on property (of all the ones I've had, anyway).

I've never spent a full day there. But I've spent a couple of hours, left, and then returned again that day. It used to be better in that it seems crowded a lot, where it once wasn't (when it first opened, it was empty a lot of the time!) That is good for the regular games, although not for some of the group type ones.

I did not like it. Most "coin-op" games were broke. Of course they did not cost anything but I think you know what I mean with coin-op. The virtual games/attractions were down for over the three hours we went. Only was the Alladin and....well, being the only one open the lines were crazy:scared1:

I love a good fighting game (Street Fighter, Tekken and such) so to go play one and find out that the joystick on some and/or a button was broke was very disappointing. When I mentioned this to a cast member - are they called that there - I was told " Yes, they're like that. Nothing I can do" I just thought it was a weird response.

So, I would say spend your time/dime somewhere else.

My son would like to live at Disney Quest!! We really liked it and could definitely spend a long time there. We all love the POTC ride and my DD loved the animation studio.

What ages are your children and when are you going? Our favorite thing to do as a family is visit the water parks. We love them both and my son enjoys them more than any other parks so it's a tough call. The month you are visiting and the ages of the children may make one more appealing.

We took our DS14 to disney quest for the first time last August. My DS was disappointed. We only stayed for about 2hrs and he was ready to leave. Personally I would suggest using your pass for Typhoon Lagoon. We end up there every year and the food prices are pretty good.

Make sure to verify what kind of ticket you have before you make plans. We weren't able to use old "plus" options, but the extras on MYW tickets did work.

DH and I tried it on our last trip just to say we'd been there and wound up really liking it. We went on a weekday and it was empty. We had a great time with video/arcade games (all free, but no tickets or anything like that) and I liked the VR games quite a bit. The create zone was fun. We took one of the animation lessons and I made a very sad, sad Minnie Mouse.

We really found it to be a pleasant diversion and I could see a family with older kids spending quite a bit of time there.

We weren't impressed with the Cheesecake Factory Express. We had pizza and garlic rolls. The pizza was disgusting--kind of like low grade cafeteria pizza with congealed cheese and little sausage pellets. The rolls were unremarkable. I would recommend eating elsewhere, or at least skipping the pizza!

Most of the activities within the DisneyQuest building are included with admission. They have a good handful of VR games, retro arcade games & a few newer ones tossed in. Three years back they had another section of newer games you had to buy a card to play & win tickets - I hadn't budgeted to spend more than I had on admission and food so the kids were very dissappointed (they had a prize area to trade in tickets) I'm not sure if this is still there & I hope they did away with it.

The virtual reality games are a blast - particularly the pirates game. Kids loved flying the magic carpets where you could "see" each other through the game. The buzz lightyear ride/game was a dissapointment to the little guy (and biggest Buzz fan you can imagine) as he was too small to go on (he was 6) adn his big sister & dad came off it frustrated & dizzy.

As said, it's a good diversion. I won't be heading back there any time soon as I think a more budget friendly thing to do is to experience the resorts, ride the monorail & grab an icecream at beaches & cream ;)

Both of my kids now 18 and 13 have AP passes to DQ, and enjoy going there.
Much to do for kids.
They go alot and have never complained to us about anything.....at themeparks lines* and mechanical failures are a part of a reality.

DQ is a great safe place for your kids to go and have fun.

enjoy!

ps they have been going now for about 3 years now.

We prefer it over the waterparks! (Yes, we've been to all the water parks and Disney Quest)

My son 12 is a video game nut. My daughter 9 likes them as well. My DH and I grew up on video games.

The key is get there early--and do the biggies first. These would include Pirates, Jungle cruise (they are right next to each other) and the design roller coaster thing.

There are other fun VR games that will open up eventually as the day goes on. The comic book sword one is an example of that.. that is never open at opening but will open up. The Buzz Lightyear bumper car things is another thing that will open up later.

People will hog up the machines. There is no time limit and that will happen. Some of the older machines won't work either.

We don't really like the stand alone video games but spend most of our time in the VR games. My kids would spend all day at design your own roller coaster.

I have never really ate there, so I can't tell you about the food.

We were there in December and loved it! Are you going at a slow time? We did the Cyber Space Mountain (design your own coaster) many, many, many times. We did Pirates 3 times. We spent almost 5 hours there and could have stayed longer. We waited in no lines, we were playing the whole time. My boys were 6,9,11 and love video games in general. I'm not much of a gamer but I was happy for the 5 hours too.

Have a fun trip!
Katy

We have been 3 times and love DQ but all the visits were off season and no lines.
Went back at Xmas and had to wait for everything, did not enjoy at all.
I would never go again at peak times or a rain day.
Its a place you have to try for yourself some love it some hate it.

We went in both March and September. Both times, we went on a weekday and arrived around 30 minutes before the opened(around 11am) Good day to sleep in or have a breakfast ADR since they open later than the parks. And do not expect them to open the door early, because I don't think they ever do.

DO the VR games FIRST, because they will be swamped quickly. Pirates and JC are both pretty cool. The Buzz Lightyear one is fun too. My son could spend all day here, but I need a break at some point. We left around 2 and walked around DTD, had lunch, etc. Then came back and spent another 2 hours there. Only money I spent in DQwas on a drink for each of us, Disney priced of course.

My son picked DQ over the water park in September!

WAIT! What? How do I fin dout? We each have two "plus options" left from parkhoppers in 2004. Anyone know how I can find out? We were told they never expire....:confused3

We had a similar problem. Here's the deal: If you bought the tickets when the plus features only included water parks, that's still included. So if it's before Disney Quest was considered a "plus" they will not work there. I would call Disney and ask about your specific tickets. We tried using "old" tickets there and they did not work; however we were able to use these same tickets at a waterpark.

whew -- found this on mouse savers:

The "plus" options on a Park Hopper PLUS pass do not have to be used on days when you go to the theme parks. That means you can use a 5-Day Park Hopper PLUS (which gives you five days of theme park admission and two "plus" options good at the water parks or Pleasure Island) on a total of 7 days, if you wish! The days don't have to be consecutive, either. For instance, you could spend 5 days in the theme parks, take two days off, and visit the water parks on 2 other days.

Old Park Hopper tickets purchased prior to 1/2/05 can no longer be upgraded, or converted to Magic Your Way tickets. All you can do is use up the remaining days on them.

We've been DQ twice, both times in the evening. My kids really like it (DD12 & DS 10). It isn't a place that we could spend the entire day, but we usually stay 3 or 4 hours. They love building the virtual roller coaster, POTC and Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blast. We also spent a lot of time in the arcade section with the basketball, bowling game, etc. They had a great time!

Last time we ate at the CF express. The kids shared an adult portion of spaghetti (it was huge) and I bought an order of garlic sticks as well. I liked the idea of being able to get them something at counter service that was more like a real dinner, not just burger or pizza (we were going to eat enough of that through out the week!)
