Is Disney policing multiple ADRs?

Hi all,

I was inspired by another thread to cancel an ADR we have in November because our plans changed. When I cancelled it, the CM told me that I had a conflicting ADR at Plaza restaurant (I didn't write it down so I didn't recall making it). I then pointed out that the Plaza ADR was at lunch, and the "conflicting" ADR was another restaurant for breakfast (we are meeting people).

She asked me (in a nice way) if I really needed both since they were so close together. Since I didn't even remember making the Plaza one, I told her to go ahead and cancel it.

I have been making ADRs at Disney for years, and never had such a conversation in which my other reservations were even acknowledged.

Is this a new thing? ARe they cancelling multiple reservations now?

When I called for ADRs for our upcoming trip, one CM didn't want to make two ADRs for me for the same day. After I pointed out that one was for lunch at 12:00, and the other for dinner at 7:00, she decided it was OK, but still felt the need to question why I wanted two full service meals on the same day. I found the whole conversation rather odd.

There have been a couple different threads about this in the last day or so. Judging from some of the replies from people who have called in the last few days, it definitely sounds like that are moving in that direction, as far as having more than one ressie for around the same mealtime. But I don't think it's a new thing for them to cancel an ADR if they happen to find someone has double-booked - I think they have done that for a while now.

Wow, I can't believe they are questioning more than one ADR for a day. We eat 2-3 sit down meals a day when we are at Disney, depending on our package, which means 2-3 ADRs for a day. I sincerely hope CMs don't start questioning a guests desire for several sit down meals in a day, particularly if you are on a package that includes a dining plan. Many of ours have been 8 or 9am for breakfast and then 12ish for lunch then dinner at 6ish. I can't imagine not being able to have an ADR for each of them.

Given the high level of traffic in restaurants, and the difficulty getting ADRs these days, I think this would be a good move. I don't think people with multiple ADRs in a DAY should be questioned - B,L,D. I've certainly done 2 TS meals in one day. But say multiple dinner reservations in the same night, for a party number exceeding the reservation party total, I'm fine with that.

The OP also reported it - one for Breakfast and one for Lunch b/c of the close proximity in time (not sure how close it was).

yeah I changed my post when I remembered that Goofy me. But that still seems to be the minority, so I'm thinking that this is something Disney is starting to put into effect, and the CM's haven't got it quite right yet.

When I called this AM, the CM said some have been found to have up to 7 ADR's at ONE mealtime, and they are asking when they see over ONE:

"-I see you have two reservations for XYZ and ABC - which would you like to cancel???"

As we know, CM responses and actions very widely.

I called a couple of weeks ago to cancel a couple of ADR's and the CM I spoke to was so kind : )
She said " I want to thank you for calling in tonight, we have received a ton of calls for reservations and had to turn people away. This will make someone very happy "

After I hung up I figured that a bunch of folks were not getting in and startign to complain .

That happened to me too. I wanted to switch Boma to 1900 Park Faire (closer to MK for the MVMCP) and the CM said to me, "I see you have a ADR for Boma at 4:30, lets make your new ADR first and then go back to cancel Boma for you "

I never told her I already had Boma set up or that I needed to cancel an ADR...just said I want to make a ADR...of course I was going to tell her after that I wanted to cancel one too.

I hope they are cracking down on people that make multiple ADR for the same day around the same time...it is not fair to hold thinks up for another guest because you cannot make up your mind about the time, place, day etc etc

I was wondering the same thing. I have one I think we may not use in the am and need to get called in. It would stink if they started making us have a cc hold on all ressser

Yes, in my case I'm sure it was just a clueless CM.....she just seemed strange throughout the entire phone conversation. I had no problem making multiple ADRs with other CMs for lunch/dinner on the same day.

7 ADRS?????? I know we've heard that they're cancelling one ADR if there are two for the same mealtime. If someone has 3 or more ADRs for the same meal, they should cancel every last one of them.

I called the other day to see if I could add Akershus on the last night of our stay and the CM said I had a dinner reservation elsewhere that night. I told her if Akershus was available, I was going to cancel the other one. The restaurant was indeed available, so I cancelled Cape May. She then went on to "review" my other ADR's and commented how I had so many??? I have one each day except for the 4th day where I have a character breakfast and then LTT @ night for MNSSHP. She said that it was 1 more TS than I had allowed with the DDP-did I want to cancel one? I said no-I'd be paying OOP for one of them (Disney Visa Rewards to be specific )

I guess all the ADR's you cancel are also still able to be viewed because she was reading them off to me and then would tell me it was indeed cancelled by me months ago (I originally made them 180 days out but switched some and cancelled the old ones at the same time).....

Now I'm just afraid to even call to confirm!!

Yes they are. Software is in the test phase to be able to automatically cancel out double bookings.

There have been many complaints during free dining about not being able to get ADRs, only to find restaurants not full. People are not cancelling them in time to let others book them.

That was me! We had an ADR around 8:30 am at Kona Cafe, and 11:55 ADR at the Plaza Restaurant. Again, I forgot I even made the Plaza one so I was glad she called it to our attention. However, given how little my kids eat, it is entirely consistent that we would have a reservation at 8:30 am, at which my kids play with most of their food, and a 12 noon lunch.

Also, Plaza meals aren't exactly elaborate. They are sandwiches and salads. Which we would eat anyway, even at a counter service restaurant.

At any rate, I took no offense, I just thought I should report the conversation because I thought it was odd.

I called to check mine when their system went down that time, and I got the rudest CM. She acted like it was a HUGE ordeal for her to confirm my reservations. She then proceeded to tell me well you have 14-15 reservations. Yes I am aware that is a lot this is our honeymoon and our first time to WDW, so we are doing a char breakfast all but 2 times during our stay, have ts dinners in order to use our plan credits, and reservations for lunch once at Primetime, and another on another day at Sci-fi.We are paying oop for our char breakfast, and a dinner. Not a big deal but she acted like I was a bother to confirm my things, and it's a good thing I did call to confirm cause they did not cancel one of my dinner reservations previously when I had changed it like I had asked them to cancel. I did not double book anything and I feel I spaced them out starting breakfast sometimes at 7 something, lunch, and dinner late in the evening like last seating at dinner time that way we can do the park and eat dinner at the end of our day.

Would they say anything to you if you had and ADR, every night, for the same restaurant? Let's say you really liked the Park Fare, and made one for every night of your vacation, would they comment on that, or is it just for multiple reservations in the same day?
