I still feel like if you dont go crazy and just get a room at like all star and a 4 day base ticket its not bad. Its when you get a week hopper and stay at like beach club where it gets to be hard. Maybe thats just me. Of course everyones incomes are different. We are staying at a deluxe and going to the parks for a week and we save our money and work hard to go bc it is what we really enjoy doing we also only have 1 child who is 2.
Makes my DVC purchase years ago that much more valuable to me. I only have to budget for tickets and food and since we always stay in a 1 bed room or larger we really only budget for lunch and most dinners out. Breakfast and some dinners are in the room.
It's always going to be too expensive for someone.
When I was a kid, 40 years ago, it was too expensive for my family to go more than once a year. We lived an hour away and only had to drive there for the day, no hotel or flights or anything. But just tickets were too expensive. One day a year was a splurge.
Luckily, I am in a better place financially then my parents. We have APs, which is something I thought only very rich people had when I was a kid. I guess it just depends on your budget priorities.
I have absolutely no idea. I don't really keep tabs on pricing since we've decided it's entirely too much hassle anymore for a theme park vacation, something that for us was the option when we didn't want to devote a lot of time to destination research and simply wanted to book the trip, arrive, drop bags and have fun. I do know the prices have risen significantly in the six years since our last visit. We have no desire to "vacation" as if we are cattle being herded.
I once thought that way. But then I thought, given the multiple days you are afforded, all the entertainment, the attention to detail, the diligence of the staff, the fireworks, everything... it's not bad value, really.
We used to go to Disney at least once a year, sometimes twice. I haven't been since 2016 and don't plan to go anytime soon. We can afford a trip but it's become so expensive that other destinations look as attractive for the same money. Unfortunately I can't ever seem to take a week off work so it's irrelevant.
I will say though.. when they announced we have to pay to park at the resorts while staying there now.. that left a bad, bad taste in my mouth. I didn't mention that to start a debate on the parking fees, but for me it was kinda the last straw on making frequent trips... the cost increase that pushed me over the edge.
Depends on the family. For us, my wife and I both do pretty well. That being said, I can't afford Disney's Resort prices. Not comfortably. But that's just me. I don't like carrying vacation debt. We're staying for 2 weeks in a 2 bedroom villa at Bonnet Creek for $2,700. That same size villa right across the street (practically) at Saratoga Springs would cost over $12,000. So it's become a question of what we can afford as well as what we can justify paying.
No. With everything that is offered including all entertainment, park/resort transportation and amount of attractions I’d say it’s a great deal.
That being said, the last few years the crowds have been over the top and on some days insane it has made things very difficult to get the full benefit. If we can’t easily enjoy what’s offered than it starts to look like a lot of money.
I wonder if the price increases are actually intended to slow down the traffic? For years, folks have been complaining that it is getting too crowded, so if they raise the prices significantly, less people come, and one less problem.
The reverse is, if still the people come out same as always, more revenue. Disney wins either way.
Just my O.
Since we went 1.5 years ago for the first time at WDW there's been 2 price hikes. The price & cost is indeed expensive, yet the value is severely lacking.
It's kind of like your Middle Class thread you asked at the same time. Different people are going to describe "too" expensive differently than others, is my guess.
