Is Disney getting outdated for you?

This didn't hit me until I went with a friend who has never been. She's in her late forties.

She constantly commented on the attractions not being current like American Adventure being very dated. Even Indiana Jones and Star Tours are rather old, now. Many of the movies in the Epcot countries are not current, too.

She loved the thrill rides, but she was almost annoyed if anything she saw was outdated.

I'm just curious if this bothers anyone else?

I guess the Theme park your friend runs must be all cutting edge attractions.:worship:::MickeyMo
Seriously though, I don't think disney is outdated at all, of course some of the attractions are getting older, but thats when they do a refurb on the rides. It's not realistic to expect it to be "new" all the time

Yes, some things are starting to show their age for me. While there are certain classics that still are fantastic like HM and POTC, others such as El Rio del Tiempo are kinda painful for me these days.

El Rio del Tiempo and O Canada come to mind as two attractions that are embarassingly outdated

El Rio Del Tempo was out dated the first time I saw it . Just Kidding look if you friend thinks everything is out dated next time tell her their is no time stamp on disney magic and to forget about the reality world and let go for just a couple of days.

We enjoy the parks just as they are, and actually there have been rides removed that we would like to see come back. Mr. Todds wild ride, for one, and 1000 leagues , we miss these oldies. Disney performs their rehabs when necessary to keep things up to date, but we don't like the classic rides removed.

Ahh, just tell her to go to Universal...... :goodvibes

Nah! We fell in love with Disney World. Honesty, it wasn't about the age of attractions or how old/new anything was, it was the feel of the place so, no offence to you, but I think your friend probably didn't *get* it. It's all about that magc, child-like, carefree *vibe*, nothing to do with specifics like how old an attraction is!

Honestly, no I don't feel that way. I love the classics AND the new rides, but I wouldn't trade the new if meant getting rid of some of what makes Disney World what it is in the 1st place!

The ONLY "ride" that I would say really needs some updating is the boat ride in Norway...I know some will disagree, but that ride is very Un-Disneylike to me and seriously needs some Pixie Dustupdating!

I dont feel it is outdated. However, I do think COP could use an update but that is just about it.

We are amused rather than annoyed at the outdatedness. Yes, we have noticed that many of the attractions haven't changed much since Epcot opened--El Rio Del Tiempo even is advertised as "retro" now and that is how we prefer to think of the older attractions---retro rather than outdated. :goodvibes

IMO they could at least update the little movies or films in the rides like El Rio del Tiempo, I think thats probably where most of the criticism comes in.

The same for some of the other films in World Showcase but I believe we may start seeing new ones (China has already and Canada may be next)

I understand there is a new film in production for the Canada pavilion. If you want to see outdated, how about the Carousel of Progress? But I love it still. More importantly, my kids love it -- even those difficult-to-please teenage girls.

I think there may be a phase one goes through at some point where sophistication sets in, which is replaced some years later by nostalgia.

Thats what I said, but it is still a favorite for sure.

I think half of the charm of El Rio de Tiempo is its seventiesness. Is that a word? On the other hand, Mexico is a wonderful country and I'm pretty certain the attraction does not do it justice.

I personal love the "old school" part of disney, I just hope that they don't start turning it into alot of big thrill ride attractions, I love the rides anyone can get on and just enjoy, without limits.
