Is dinner at Be Our Guest overrated?

Hi everyone,
I made all my ADR for my March Trip and was able to book "the Impossible" BOG for dinner at 4:50 PM.
It will be my last day at WDW and my last meal of the trip. I read quite a few reviews and from what I gather, the food seems to be just ok, nothing special. Now I am wondering if this place is just popular because of the hard to get ADR. Is it overrated?
I have already eaten lunch at BOG several times and think it is a great QS restaurant with yummy choices and a beautiful setting but the dinner menu looks less interesting with a higher price tag. Should I just book BOG for lunch once again and drop my dinner reservations?

What do you think?

If you have gone a few times for lunch and dinner doesn't really fit into your itinerary I would skip it. If you planned on eating that early anyway and you will be in the MK I would keep it. I personally think Liberty Tree Tavern has the best TS dinner in the MK and it is much simpler than BoG.

I too love Liberty tree tavern and I have an ADR for lunch there that same day. I actually took an early time because I want to have time to scout out good seats for the Electrical parade and Fireworks

Yes, very overrated. We also went on the last day of our trip last year. The food was just OK. It was loud, and really nothing special. my kids said they liked sci fi better..:rotfl:

I'm glad we've been, but I'm not going out of my to stalk a reservation to go again. Food was decent and our server was amazing, but it was loud and almost seemed chaotic. I think everyone should go at least once for the experience and to see the inside, but it's really not one of my must do again.

Ok that pretty much confirms what I was thinking. I am cancelling BOG and going to just do it for QS on another day.
Thanks

It's the best TS at the MK, the best atmosphere for dining at the MK and the only place at the MK where you can get a glass of wine or beer with your dinner. IMO it's the only restaurant at which I'd eat in the MK. If we are at MK and want TS any other times we go to the MK area resorts.

I thought I was the only one that thought this way , I actually thought the food was horrible with the exception of the soup and the Wine. The server asked took dessert orders and I told her I wanted a second glass of wine as my dessert.

I thought LTT wasn't taking adr's yet?

The OP isn't going til March, so plenty of time.

Back to the OPs questions. Yes, BOG dinner is hard to get, in part because it is hard to get, and also because a lot of guests only visit every few years, so they haven't yet had a chance to dine there yet.

Is it over rated? Depends on what reviews you are reading, and exactly what your expectations are regarding a BOG dinner. Look at it realistically- its a 1TS credit restaurant inside a theme park. It isn't a signature at a resort. So IMO if you are expecting very high quality foods served at a leisurely pace by unhurried servers in a quiet restaurant, then you will be disappointed. Actually, you'll be disappointed if you're expecting ANY of those qualities in a meal at any TS meal inside a park. If you expect food that is properly prepared and served in a timely and courteous manner, in a very well themed restaurant, then I think you can have an enjoyable meal. We have anytime we've eaten there, whether it's been lunch or dinner.

But we actually like most of the items on the menu. I would never recommend a restaurant, no matter how good it is, if the person did not like what the menu had to offer.

We enjoyed BOG food and theming and will be going back, but as Minnie Mum said its hard to get , because its hard to get!

I don't think it's overrated. Obviously people have had different experiences but we LOVED dinner at BOG. The food was great and the atmosphere was amazing. If you enjoyed lunch there and want to try dinner- keep your ADR. If you drop it now, there's a good chance you won't get it back.

I thought dinner there was overrated for sure. We enjoyed our lunch there more plus we got to sit in the room we wanted at lunch.

Agree 100%! We had an incredible experience- best meal we've ever had at Disney! Others have had not so great experiences. I'd say try it for sure!

I'm adding my vote to the overrated wagon. I honestly thought it was the worst meal of my trip and would not go back for dinner again.

Is it overrated? I think so, but it still is a decent restaurant with a lovely setting.....and it serves wine in an otherwise dry park. Personally, I like lunch better, and feel that it is not worth the heatbreak that not securing an ADR seems to bring on in some people.

I agree with Minniemum...BOG is a good restaurant and is woth visiting at least once if you can. I would not move Heaven and Earth to eat there. But that is easy for me to say, I've been. For those who have not, I understand why they are using sites to try to get that elusive ADR.

I haven't eaten there yet, will be having dinner there in March, but I have to say that asking other people's opinions of restaurants can be risky. People have varying tastes when it comes to food, atmosphere, service, etc. I always see the comment that the reviews for restaurants indicates "inconsistency" in the restaurant. I tend to think this "inconsistency" comes more from the multitude of different opinions and tastes of those who are giving the reviews. I also think how HUNGRY one is when eating at the restaurant is key. OP, you mention having lunch at LTT on the same day you have an early dinner ressie at BOG? That might seriously sway your experience at BOG. LTT is probably going to fill you up pretty well and then you won't be all that hungry by your early dinner. When you're not that hungry, food just isn't that great to you no matter how tasty it might actually be.

I wasn't certain about BOG either when I did my ADRs, but as this is our first trip in 17 years and who knows if/when we'll be back, I went for it. It fits into our day at the MK, and the menu items sound good to me. If I hadn't liked the sound of anything on the menu, I would've chosen either LTT for dinner or a TS back at the resort for that night. But the menu looks good to me, and I want to see the place. :) If we're not that hungry for some reason we'll get some soup and a dessert. :)

Way overrated! Last time we ate there our server spoke so fast and rushed off so quickly that we forgot to order our salad. We all got steak and potatoes and all of the food was VERY salty. We will be skipping it next year. (Although it may be good to go just once to get a picture with the Beast!).

It's nicely themed, but all the people wandering around taking pictures takes away from the theming a lot. It's like they're rude enought to totally ignore the fact that the people in there are trying to dine. The best part about the meal the times I've been for lunch or dinner has been the cupcakes, which are fairly tiny. They're between a regular cupcake and a mini-muffin in size. The breakfast and lunch meals are just ok, not great by any means. The best thing I've had for breakfast/lunch is the braised pork, and it's really nothing special...just good. We had breakfast there 3 days ago, and weren't blown away by it, either. I had the croque madame, wife had the eggs florentine, and son had the cronut. The croque madame and the eggs florentine honestly didn't have a lot of flavor. The croque madame at France in Epcot is A LOT better. Again, decent (not great by any means), but definitely not even close to being worth what they charge for it...even for Disney.
