This is will be our first time going in Dec and I am trying to figure out if that week is going to be very busy. Any help would be great!

December is always busy for DVC because of the lower points. The parks might not be as busy, but it's hard to get DVC closer to the time you need to go.

I already booked AKV at our 11 month mark, I just wanted to see how crazy the parks tend to be during that week with it being 8 days before Christmas.

We love to go that week and it is great until the last Saturday. You will really notice an increase in people on Friday and then Saturday is nuts. Last year Saturday was the first day the Christmas parade ran other than MVMCP, so everyone in the World seemed to be there.

Our anniversary is December 18, so we are frequently there during those days right before and right after our anniversary. We even brought down the entire extended family with us for our 25th anniversary to renew wedding vows during this time. Every trip has been fantastic. The poster before me is correct... the last few days (usually starting right on our anniversary) can be a little crowded, but by then we've already done all the rides and activities and are more into people-watching at that point. So... here come all the people! It's like they timed it just for us! =P

Epcot will be busy in the evenings because of the Candlelight Processional crowd.

MK will begin to get busy in the evening if they are closing early that night for a Christmas Party.

Overall, the parks will be pretty light.

Thanks for the info, makes me feel a little better about the week we decided to go.

Is MVMCP worth going, I keep reading mixed reviews?

It is nice to do if you haven't seen it before. They usually have some special perimeter fireworks and the Christmas parade.

I find that the crowds in December are quite manageable until the 25'th of December and then all $#!*%!! breaks out

We were there Dec 10-15 last year. The parks weren't bad. The biggest crowds was at DHS for the Osborne Family Lights. Since the lights are outdoor type decorations, the crowds weren't a problem.

We will be there from Dec 18th to the 22nd so glad to hear it's not crazy right when school lets out.

we usually go every year first 2 weeks of dec. The crowds historically are light( except last year). The air flights for us go way up around the end of second week of dec. We have flown home on the wed before the third week starts and had airfare for $109 back to buffalo then on thur it would jump to $289 same flight. We have gone to mvmcp 3 times in the last 3 years. We have annual passes so we go for the day at mk then stay at night for the party. We dont usually go to the first parade we watch the fireworks after from the circle infront of castle. Usually most people leave then. You still have a couple hours of park time with light crowds. Then we pick any spot on main street and watch the second parade. Two years ago we had maybe 5 people standing within 10 feet of us it was great. But like i said earlier last dec was totally different it was very busy.

I was In Central Florida Dec 12 Till December 23rd Last Year. Dec. 12th through 17 was very manageable. Not as deserted as in past years but pretty good. The 18th till 20th I went to Sea World and Universal. December 21st was the busiest day I had ever seen at the Magic Kingdom during the day. To give you an idea of how busy, TTA (aka. people movers) had a 30 min. wait. The tiki room and COP was playing to packed houses. People were looking for anything with a short line.

They ended up extending park hours till 1 a.m. and the park had really cleared out by 10:00 (after first spectromagic and Fireworks). I was nearly deserted by midnight (posted closing time). I was able to ride all of the mountains, Peter Pan, Buzz, during that last hour to hour and a half. All in all it was a good day. With between making good use of Fast passes, and enjoying lesser attractions during the worst of the crowds, it was a lot of fun.

OP, are you a DVC Member? If so, you can relax and enjoy it at a somewhat more leisurely pace knowing that you have many more years of vacations, hopefully, ahead of you.

We've been to MVMCP the past three years. The party is fun but the best thing is the park is fairly empty. Last year we went from ride to ride with little or no wait in line. The other good thing is that you can get into the park at 4:00 with your MVMCP ticket. That gives you 8 hrs in the park before it closes.

Thank you everyone for your response!

It sounds like it shouldn't be too bad!

Yes, we are DVC members, we just normally go in October for the MNSSHP, but figured we would switch to December this time for a change.

Btw, after 6 nights at VWL, we'll be staying at AKV Kidani Village from Dec 12 - Dec 17!

It's a small world after all, it's a small... Okay, I'll stop now.

That is a small world. We are staying at Jambo, but I am going to try at 7 months to get BLT since we have a 3 year old it would be nice. I am not holding my breath though!
