Is DDP available every year?

I am asking this question on behalf of a friend...
My friend and her family went to WDW last sep and stayed offsite, and now want to go again next year. We are going back this year and taking advantage of the free dining plan, so she was wondering if the free dining plan is available every year, and if so, when can you start booking it. Any info appreciated!

Free DDP has been offered for holidays in late August to mid September for about 3 years now. You can never predict when it will go on sale as this year it was offered to UK residents back in Oct/Nov of last year for this coming years dates and was only opened up to anyone last week, after being offered to Disney Visa card holders.

So there is nothing to say it will happen again next year or when the offer will be able to be booked.

I would not expect it until it is announced, you never know if WDW will do it next year, though if they do you will hear from these boards before the trave agents know about it, as I found out last year.

It is an offer which occurs irregularly. US direct booking with Disney has been available for 3 years I believe but for different dates. It became available on the 12th April for stays from late August. For UK bookings it was available late October until 6th November for stays from about the 8th August until late August. I am not sure if it was offered free here last year.

Disney offer if they feel they have a lot of availability in their resorts they want to fill.

I would not rely on it being available for next year as it seems the attendance trends are going up.
