Is DDE Worth It For A Short Trip?

I'm planning on buying an AP as I will be in WDW this July, Jan 07 and June07. I'm trying to decide if a DDE is worth it to buy now though.

We're taking a quick trip July 1-4 and we're planning on HDDR or Spirit of Aloha on July 1. They're both booked right now; we need 6 tickets. So, we have Park Fare booked as a back up on the 1st. I've seen some discrepancies as to whether DDE qualifies for the 2 dinner shows. I know it would count for Park Fare. On the 2nd, we plan to do the Fantasmic Dinner Package. Does DDE qualify for this package? On the 3rd we plan to do Liberty Tree Tavern, which I know DDE covers. And on the 4th we're doing Ohanas, but I understand that DDE isn't accepted on Holidays.

So, shall I just wait until January to spend my $60.

There are 3 adults and 3 children (4,4,9).

Doesn't seem worth it if it will just count for Park Fare and Liberty Tree Tavern, but maybe I'm wrong. We'll eat CS meals for our other meals, but I don't believe that I get a DDE discount on those, right?

P.S. We're staying at SOG.

I'm trying to decide between the savings I'll be getting now and the cost of the card OOP now. I figure I'll save about $48 dollars if we do PF and LTT, so maybe it's not worth it just for this trip, but counting in the other 2 trips, do I buy it now, or wait???

JMHO, but I'd go ahead & buy it now. If you estimate saving $48, then you're only out $12 more before it pays for itself. Then, you have pure savings on your other trips.

As for dinner shows, DDE is valid, but only for the later show. That's 8pm for the luau;not sure about the HDDR times.

FYI,

If you go to animal kingdom you can use the DDE at some of the counter service type locations... flaming tree bbq (yummmmmy) and others....

I really would go ahead and purchase your DDE card, especially if you're planning to go back to WDW within the next 12-13 months (my card just arrived in the mail and is good thru June 30, 2007) It can't save you money if you don't buy it I think it's a GREAT bargain. Good luck!

I agree...buy your card now. We got back the cost of our card within 3 days!! Also, our card ended up being good for 13 months rather than just 12. What a deal!

We went to WDW a couple of weeks ago, and saved around $60 for two adults and two kids (9 & 11) on a Sunday through Thursday stay. I don't know why I never bought the DDE card before.
