is daytona worth going for a day trip?

Oh, this is all bad news. I have 4 nights in Ocean Walk on the beach in Daytona for next month. We have never been, and we are taking our DD and DN who are 13 & 15. I thought it would be fun for them. Ocean Walk looks like a gorgeous resort. I guess we could just hang there......

Does anyone have any positive input on Daytona (just to make myself feel better )

Also, one of the above posts said the beach was the same as Clearwater. I thought they were completely different. The roaring Atlantic as opposed to the calm, beautiful Gulf coast. Can someone weigh in?

We stayed at Oceanwalk resort and the resort is fantastic. The best on the beach in my opinion, lot of activities at the resort itself. You will love it, my kids do. I was there for the charley in 8/2004(oceanwalk) and again during spring break in March 2005(daytona beach shores, away from the college crowds. (as well as 5-6 times before that)I may be in the minority but I love Daytona Beach, I have been to Clearwater and cocoa also, and love them all, but we keep going back to Daytona. We will be there in August again and cannot wait.

Thanks for your replies. I went on Tripadvisor and most all of the recent reviews on Oceanwalk are very positive. I'm wondering if Spring Break is more mid March than the end. I'm hoping I'll miss the brunt of it. That's my only concern. I appreciate all of you that have had positive experiences to take the time to post and I'm looking forward to doing all the other suggestions also! Thanks!

Just another suggest for a day trip. St. Augustine is just an hour from Daytona and is sooooo pretty.

Whenever, I take someone there they always want to go back. There is an the Alligator Farm on the way, also.
