Is CRT all about the princesses?

Never been to CRT and am intrigued because I love the castle and have never been in it (other than to cut through to Fantasyland or see the gift shop). DD (15) has never been into the princesses (nor have I) but thought it might be a cool place to have lunch.

Checked into the CRT and found out it would be over $100 for the three of us to have lunch. As much as I would love to see more of the castle - I can't hardly imagine its worth it (certainly would be if I had a young daughter who would love to have her picture taken with the princesses - just not for us). Is there something I am missing - is this a must do?

Personally, I loved it when it was simply a restaurant where Cinderella would occassionally stop by. I can remember when the dishes and goblets were supposed to be "pewter" to represent the old times. Then they made it into fine china and added a princess breakfast. We did the princess breakfast one time which was worth it since I had my niece who was 8 at the time. She had her picture taken with all the princesses and Mary Poppins. She loved it. The last time we were there for dinner was 2005 and we did enjoy it especially since it was the first trip for my youngest son's girlfriend. Then about two-three years ago, they made it into a set meal. I don't know that I'd spend the money again.

I know that my oldest son and his girlfriend were there in Dec07 for dinner (on the DDP for 2TS). Since it was just the two of them, they were seated in the window section and got to watch the fireworks all around them. They really enjoyed that.

Again, it used to be a restaurant we'd hit for dinner each visit but no longer.

Thanks - I was thinking the new prices probably weeded out those who "just want to see the castle". Any other thoughts?

The only reason our family goes is because I have a 4 yo DD who think she is a princess.

Its a nice experience but not over $100.00 nice. If it weren't for DD, we would skip the castle. JMOP!

As another pp said, dinner may be the best option for your family. It is not as "princessy" at dinner and if you get in at the right time to request a window table, it is a great place to watch Wishes.

Also, if you are not on the dining plan and do not want to spend a great deal of money on the meal, make a later ADR and have appetizers or dessert, while watching the fireworks and have an earlier CS meal for dinner.

It really is an experience that evyone should do at least once - IMO.

Food - Eh
Eating in the Castle with the Princesses -- Priceless

I really consider lunch (that's the only meal we've done) to be a dinner theater experience. You're paying a certain amount for the food, of course, but you're also paying to enjoy the stage set and the players. We really enjoy lunch even as adults. I'd do it once just for the experience.

After that, if we have a niece along for the trip, we do it. If it's just DH and me, we skip it in favor of much better food elsewhere.
