Is cosmic rays really that bad?

we like Cosmic's and visit several times during our trips, but I can understand the frustrations of a younger family with the various lines.

we are a family of 3, with our DD being 10, so DH goes to the chicken counter, I grab the burgers and DD heads to a table and gets the condiments .... so it works well for us, hot food and a table ready to go ......

We'll be back for sure.

It's the best counter service I think. The chicken breast sandwiches are good. And everybody finds something they'll eat. I'll eat anything, but my wife and kids stick to chicken.

What about Columbia Harbor house? We went to that gem last year after reading about it here on the Dis and it is now our favorite CS in MK. The choices are so different and yummy and you can grab a table upstairs and have a nice view and some peace and quiet.
But that being said- Cosmic rays is what it is... Burgers/fries kind of place- it is fine nothing super special(except for Sunny) But the lines are a killer- different lines for everybody- with 4 children and a picky dh that is why we switched to Columbia House. Oh and another pleasant surprise last trip was Caseys! Those are some yummy dogs! We'll be eating there again also.

I have made my mind up. We will be doing 1 lunch at Pescos Bill, 1 lunch at Cosmic Rays, 1 dinner at Pescos Bill (EMH evening) and 1 dinner at the Plaza (all on different days btw). Thanks again for all your help.

I just don't think that the set up is condusive to a family with small children- especially when everyone wants something different. Cosmic Rays is however, the perfect restaurant for a family with older children, or a group of adults. LOTS of food to pick from, and everyone can split up, purchase what they would like, and meet at a table. We've eaten there at least once every trip!

ITA! There is a wide variety to choose from. We enjoyed the food.

It's our family's favorite CS in MK. We eat lunch there each day we are at MK on our WDW trips.

I thought it was not very good, but we live in the Chicago area and we have these local chains, Portillos and The Patio that have a similar menu but are far, far better, so I think that clouded my judgement.

I agree that the lines are tricky, too, especially if you have little kids. I don't understand why so many different lines? The average Portillos in Chicago does like 10-12 million in business each year, so they are super busy, and you can order almost everything in one line, and these are places that serve everything from ribs to awesome salads to pasta and dogs & burgers.

Sunny was a little annoying, too...I chose this place because I thought it was a live dj and we were surprised it was like a Chuckee Cheese robot! Very loud, too...not my cup of tea, but others seem to enjoy it! If you're on the dinning plan, give it a whirl! I have just been spoiled by great fast food here in Chicago.

Another vote for Cosmic Rays! We eat there every trip, love the caeser salad, enough to feed 3 people and the rotisserie chicken is very good. Cannot pass up the topping bar so we can have cheese fries!!

This is our favorite CS spot at the MK! I love the fixin's bar where I can make my own cheese fries. That crazy, singing alien is fun too. I would agree that it would be better if you didn't have to go to various lines for different types of meals. That is why we always get cheeseburgers!

I used to like it a lot because they had this wonderful buffalo chicken sandwich for a long time. Then they got rid of it and I could never really find anything there other than that which i loved to it.

I also enjoyed it. I had the turkey bacon wrap with grapes and it was pretty good. The only thing I didn't like was the sugar free brownie. But had I paid attention to the fact it was SF, i wouldn't have gotten it in the first place

The one really bad thing was it was VERY hard to find a table for 2 at lunch. It was really frustrating.

We actually liked it. It is similar to the electric umbrella in epcot or the pecos bills inMK. DD liked the veggie burger. DS and I split a double cheeseburger and the lady didnt even charge for the second bun. The kids liked making own burger fixins.

I have to say the only CS place that I really havent tried yet is Pinnochio Haus but I would like to anyway I cant say there is a CS in MK that we havent liked...

We,re planning on getting 2 combo meals and fries on the side 1 of us can get the combos the other the fries 2 11 yr olds canget tabe and help watch 5 year old so I think it will work for us oops forgot we,ll need xtra drinksmaybe dessertstoo.Do you agree this shouldn"t be too hard.

We usually eat at Cosmic Rays when we go to MK. I have always enjoyed it and it is a great people watching place. I haven't been in Pecos Bill since the place was sponsered by Pepsi and it was the only place in all of Disney World you could get a Pepsi. Of course there was not much to Disney World except MK, CR, Poly and land back in 1975.

1) I get paid for a lot of things.
2) One of them is making recommendations for eateries.
3) I always list Cosmic Rays as a good Counter Service.
4) NEVER had some one complain about the recommendation.

No holiday to WDW would be complete without a few visits to Cosmic Rays - we always try to sit as close as possible to Sunny Eclipse - he is GREAT!!!

My family & I always enjoy going to Cosmic Rays & whenever we are in the Magic Kingdom we always make it a tradition to eat there. We have never thought of it as being bad & what is great about it is that there is a variety of food to choose from. If one of us does not want Burgers, there are Salads, Chicken & other Sandwiches to choose from.
