Is Coronavirus affecting your travel plans?

.
It is normal for me, but not my area. I'm on municipal water.
I'm just saying if people are starting to go crazy, which now that it's confirmed in areas where people from here commute too, I'm sure they will, I want to make sure I have water to drink.
I could drink out of the tap but I'd rather not (it tastes weird to me). So I'm going to be one of those people stockpiling but not because I worry about the virus, I worry about all the people that are taking all the water LOL
i don't like tap water either. It's why I buy bottled water.

I do all the shopping so I keep everything stocked...just in case. We've had family emergencies and illnesses that have taken me out of the loop unexpectedly (a few weeks at a time) At least i have the necessities for DH and the critters. Gives me some peace of mind.

I'm not talking about people who normally buy bottled water as part of their life.

When we booked are flight for the end of March the plane was approx. 90% filled. Now we I check it is 30% filled with seats becoming available everyday.

See, I think even for those who might be ready to go on their travel anyway, you may be surprised by flight cancellations and changes. I don't think the airlines are going to want to fly planes only 30% full and lose money. I would expect them to cancel some flights and try and consolidate any remaining who are willing to travel onto fewer flights.

This morning United announced 20% cut to international flights and 10% cut to domestic flights through May

It probably depends on the flight plan anyways. Def. keep an eye out like always but maybe moreso. Those who fly AA, SWA and United are probably used to keeping an eye out in the last year due to MAX 8 issue.

When we flew to Orlando during Irma a day before the airport closed it was with SWA. Our flight def. had more people on it as my Boarding pass was A50 and I was sitting near people in the airport that had mid-Bs. There ended up being only 20 or so people on the flight.

Sometimes planes have to go to X destination regardless of how many passengers are on a flight or they are a connection point.

This is just my own ancedotal story but my husband flew home on the 5:00 direct SW flight from DC last night- this is a flight that he and I take multiple times a month and is normally completely full with 1 or 2 middle seats in the back empty but otherwise sold out- last night it was less than 25% full and they had to avoid the first 10 rows to help “balance the load”.

I’m in DC next week and for the last 3 weeks have been checking Marriott, Hyatt, and Hilton for a room at the gov/mil rate about every other day- there was nothing available until you got to Alexandria. I checked last night and almost all of the DC Marriotts (20+) now had available rates. You sometimes find one or two openings pop up the week ahead as people cancel, but I’ve never seen the entire inventory move like that.

Again, one coincidence doesn’t make a trend, but it seems possible that business travelers are starting to cancel en mass in some areas.

It seems as though a majority of major companies are now shifting to a no travel policy. Most of my friends who work for Fortune 500 companies are staying put now. I would expect that's a large part of why you see so much availability now. This is an unprecedented disaster for the hospitality industry.

Which is going to crush the airlines. And I’m supposed to fly to GNP in August.

My husband's work also suspended travel. He had 5 trips planned for the next two months and all are canceled. Honestly, if I hadn't rented DVC points, I would have already canceled.

Also, Thankful I don't have a cruise planned. I think cruises are going to be hit the hardest. Especially now that they have the Princess out at sea with 21 suspected ill and one death. They were helicoptering tests to them! What doctor is going to want to go on that ship and how will they treat all those people? I can't imagine being one of the 2500 people stuck on board. It is horrific to think about.

My ds's girlfriend works for a fortune 500 company in the financial sector. She's still flying all over the world. I think she leaves for Ireland and London tomorrow. The very last thing an investment company wants their customers to do is pull their money so it's business as usual for her. She would love it if her company implemented a no travel policy, but that isn't going to happen anytime soon. I suppose if we see that then we'll really know things are bad.

Oh yeah. There's a big difference for the first time this week. I suspect next week to double. Travel is getting hit and it's not going to stop anytime soon.

Where I live, there were no cases reported 2 days ago. Within the past 24 hrs we now have a cluster 25 miles east and the 1st patient in the state 20 miles south. Here it goes. Watch, the number of new cancellations is going to be tremendous over the next week.

To be clear though, the person who died had traveled on that ship during the previous voyage. He was not on the current trip. I agree though, I would not be getting on a cruise ship right now.

I agree. Now that the number of confirmed cases and deaths in United States are growing, we will see more effects. In my town, a large company with regional and national headquarters here, just stated they are issuing the no travel policy to their employees for non-essential travel. I am not an employee so I am am not sure what they are including in essential travel. This company has offices all around United States and this policy is for all the offices.

Looking at maps of where this disease is, I'd like to know what North Korea is doing, because they are surrounded by it, yet have no cases in their country. Question is, do they really not have any cases and if they don't, what have they done to keep it out of their country.
