Is CM dinner food comparable to 1900 Park Fare?

We ate at Park Fare (Park Faire?) last December and thought the food was good, not spectacular but certainly not yucky or inedible. We'd be happy to eat there again. This trip I am thinking of making our arrival night dinner at Chef Mickey's - we had breakfast there in June and enjoyed it. Those who have eaten dinner at both 1900 and CM, is the food about even as far as taste and quality? I just see SO many complaints about the CM food, but if it's decent like we felt 1900 was, we'd love to give it a try. Thanks for any help :goodvibes

We have been to both for dinner. We liked the food better at 1900 Park Fare, but they are pretty close in taste. However, I think the quality has gone down in both places.

We ate at CM for dinner 2 weeks ago and I thought it was much better than Park Fare. CM has a very good salad bar and a wonderful seafood salad. I didn't eat the carved meat they had but DH said it was good. Their parmesan mashed potatoes are wonderful - they kept having to refill it constantly because people ate them so fast. CM has a great assortment of desserts as well - make your own sundaes, mini cheesecakes, key lime pie, mickey oreo cookies, etc. We didn't eat much for dessert because we were stuffed from dinner. But it all looked yummy!

We have been to both and I was not too happy with either one of them but loved the character experience at 1900 Park Fare and 1900 had more food selection than CM. When we ate at CM...it was the first time we left a buffet still felling hungry but the food was not good. When we got back to our resort after a meal at CM, my son asked for room service b/c he did not like anything at CM but he did have a great time meeting the characters.

For characters we think CM is better. For food, my opinion is that they are the same.

In May, we ate at both 1900 and CM. We would describe 1900, just as you did- it's okay, not great, not bad. We would describe CM as disgusting. The salad and desserts were good- the rest of the food was close to inedible. The restaurant was really dirty- DH walked in and said "Are we really going to eat here- look at the floor". I saw a kid drop tongs on the floor and then put them back in the food. His horrified mother told a CM, and if they switched out the food, I didn't see it happen. The characters and our waiter were great, but even my 3 year old is not really interested in going back there for dinner.

We like the charaters and atmosphere at 1900 Park Fair (breakfast and dinner) better than Chef Mickeys.

1900 Park Fair has less kids running around and Chefs making sure no little hands are not touching the food ( the buffet is less germy ).

Chef Mickey's has an annoying napkin waving song every 20 minutes. When we stayed at the CR, you could hear the song from our bathroom.

There are other places to see Mickey and friends....
Cape May breakfast @ Beach Club (very nice and relaxed)
Garden Grill dinner in EPCOT (the food is served to you)
Mickey's Backyard Barbecue @ Fort Wilderness (fun and entertaining)
Tusker House - but it is LOUD, like Chef Mickey's (and still a kiddie buffet)

Good Luck with your choices.

If you do decide upon Chef Mickey's - I would do the 1st dinner slot at 4:30 PM (or 5 PM) to get the less germy selections.

Ewww, on the germy buffet. Like the OP, I was on the fence about this one but now that the germ idea is firmly planted, I think we'll do 1900.

Is 1900 a buffet also?

Yes, 1900 is a buffet for breakfast and dinner. Dinner is Cinderella and the stepmother and stepsisters and breakfast usually has Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland characters.

I think the food is better at 1900. I had the Coq au Vin there and it was actually very good!

That said, they are both buffets, so you should be able to find something edible.

I agree with whomever called Chef Mickey's disgusting. However my family loves it and swears the food is amazing. I will say the desserts are fab.

I don't care for buffets, but we love character meals, the characters make up for the food.

We love the food at CM & 1900. They both are good. As far as the germ thing we get r ADR's for when the first open if we can.

Thanks everyone! I also had the coq au vin at Park Fare and loved it! We had an early seating at CM for breakfast in June (it was like 7:30 or some horrifyingly early time LOL) so it was clean but I can see how it could RAPIDLY deteriorate to dirty in there as time goes on during the day.

I am still a little leery. I know we want to do Park Fare again because we all liked the food and LOVED the characters, they were so funny and it was great. I appreciate all the input!!:lovestruc

We did both last trip and I thought the food was better at 1900 Park Fare. Salad and desserts were good a Chef Mickeys, but the hot food really was pretty bad.

I think the food at dinner at CM is horrible. The food at 1900 Park Fare is good, not spectacular but good. I would say 1900 Park Fare!

I haven't been to 1900 in a few years. It was decent last time we were there.

We did CM's a couple years ago. It was completely inedible, dirty, chaotic & the Character interaction for our 2 Grandsons was sub-par. The 5 adults there left starving & got other food after we left. We would never go back to CM or recommend it to anyone.

I wish I could say better about it. We used to like it many years ago. But it has gone seriously down hill.

We ate at CM for dinner a couple of years ago and we thought the food was o.k., definitely edible. The character interaction seemed a bit too rushed for us. My DH said if we ever did CM again, he would be willing to try it for breakfast, but as for the dinner we would probably go back but not anytime soon. We are doing 1900 Park Fare on our trip in December (this is our arrival dinner) and my DH and I are excited to see the Step Family....the DDs have no idea we are eating here, so once they see who they are going to be dining with they too will be excited. We first met the Step Family on our trip in March in MK and thought they were hilarious....they were the best character meet and greet that we went to.
