I went to chiro office today just to get refexology . I've done this last year several times and got a reciept with a medical code on it since I got a RX from my primary Dr. saying reflexology for foot pain ( plantar faciitis) and massage therapy for my upper right back/shoulder . I've turned in the reflex to my Flex account and was credited no problems. I didnt do the massage therapy becuse i ran out but have the rx for my flex account. BTW i'm seeing a different chiro from another office that the medical group recomended and insurance pays for if i go there.

Well i go to chiro office (my old chiro) and say i'm there for reflex and if i can get a recipet for medical reinbursement/flex. The chiro says are you getting adjusted too i said no. Ten she says well i cant give you one if your not getting services here. I said i use to see her but insurance wont cover her office and they refered me to another chiro. Then she asked what my insur was and looks at my chart and says , We take that insur. we will check to see if it get approved. I say no, you already did and it was denied, I was refered to another chiro. She says, Well i cant give recipets to everyone that comes in for reflex. I dont understand why they wont take me. I said maybe because i live in another city. She says well i have patient all over with the same insur.I tell her I only need reflex and a recipet with medical code.
I told her i understand that but mine is for medical reinbursment and i was given recipet in the past.
so its time for my reflex app and i say I'll talk to you when i'm finished. She then tells the front clerk , call and chek the insur. I tell hr no I dont want to change my chiro Dr.

Well when i'm done with my reflex. The front clerk tells me the insurance didnt accept it. told her I didnt want to change chiro i'm very happy with mine. There were -5 customers waiting and the clerk was talking really low and i wanst tryin to make a scene. So in a normal low voice i told the clerk I think what the Dr. is wrong. If she saying she wont give me a recipet for Felx acct because I wont get her chiro services there then i need to make some phone calls because Flex acct states if i get a RX from my Dr. to receive reflex for a medical condition then she should honor that and not try to intimdad me by saying you'll only get it i you get my chiro services especially when i already have a chiro Dr. The front clerk said i understand your point it for yor Flex acct. I said righ and i have past recipets, I dont think this i right
End result the front clerk will talk to Dr. again and call me tomorrow.

Am i right or wrong??? The two front clerks are new. But the previous one knew the steps but they were going by what the Dr. said. I also feel the chiro went overboard by pushing the insurance issue

Ilike the two reflexolgist therpist there and hope we work it out but if not its time to move one. I told my dh that if this was my first visit there i would have walked out because the chiro was so pushy about insur and seeing her as my chiro, it was like she was an insurance chaser

oh and by the way the chiro was going back and forth with me at the front counter about the insurance and the whole conversation

She should have given you the receipt for the service performed; that way you could have sought reimbursement.

You need to fire this chiropractor / provider as it is unprofessional behavior overall.

Anytime you get a service performed, the provider should be willing to provide a receipt. Period. DUMP THEM. And please - tell them you are doing so and delight in it. Jerks!!!

I only got the recipet from credit card. The reipt for the reflex was typed on their letterhead. When i called on the phone i was told those are only written on Thurs. I dont use her chiropractive services but she also owns the section of the reflexology and those 2 therapist i use are good. I will never get any chiro services from her or recommend her but the the reflex section i am happy with.

I see my regular chiro tomorrow and i'm gonna see how there massage therapy works with flex acct

Get a letter stating medical need to send in with it and you should be fine.

Do i get the letter from my chiro or my family dr.?

In order for my insurance co to pay for my chiro we have to send it through my family Dr. for approvral. But if this is for flex acc the chiro could write a letter right???? I do get adjusted and he even said a massage would be good because the area in my back where i have my issues is very tight.

if the chiro can do it then it will be faster and he is a wonderful caring chiro who truly cares about his patients and he's closer to my home too!

Why is insurance being brought up when you're not using it, but are using your flex account to pay (in full, I assume?) for it? Who is putting the two things together?

Why do you need a code on the receipt? I submit DH's bills for his CPAP stuff, and nothing on there has a code, but it's still covered. For our former flex plan I once submitted the most bare bones receipt that simply had the name of my former chiro office on it, and it was accepted.

The office should give you a receipt for what you received. Period. And the DC shouldn't even be involved in this conversation; that's what her front staff is for. You need receipts for your records. If you need to get the official thing on Thursday, because that's when they write them, OK, get it then.

Is the last time you submitted a receipt in this current plan year, or was it the previous plan year? If it's in the previous plan year, is it possible reflexology simply isn't on the list of reimbursable things from the flex account anymore? You might want to make sure with your insurance/HR people at work.

Lots of questions! Lots of confusion.

-I guess its her way of getting more patients. If your insurance covers chiro u will likely get treatment.

when I 1st went to her , my sister tod me about the reflexology therapist. I knew insur wouldnt cover that but flex would if i had a Dr. rx for it for medical condit. For chiro regular reciept will do but noforreflex. For reflex to becovered by flex acc, there is a medical code they need that shows its a medical treatment and not just for relaxation or stress

Wll Thrsday wont matter if she wont give the correct reciept

I think she just wants me to use her as my chiro so she gets paid. When i 1st started going there and they pushed the insurance when it was denied i paid out of since flex would reinburse me. Well the chiro asked me to ask my Dr. how she can get on the list of approved chiro thati was refered to

You can get a receipt (showing money paid) for reflexology but not with a diagnosis code if you're not under that doctor's (chiropractor's) care. (Since that doctor has not "diagnosed" you.)

I think a procedure code may be given though. Not sure that a procedure code alone is enough for reimbursement.

;) Disclaimer: I am a chiropractor, but do not participate in insurance groups so I just know the basics. We give out super receipts (receipts with codes so people can submit to their own insurance if they desire.) Other doctors may be more up on the details than I am.

last year i called Flex acct office and i was told to have my Dr. give me a RX and to write Reflexology for condition my Dr. put foot pain, SO i was told thats all i needed. When i went to the reflex the chiro dr was standing at the front counter and over heard my conversation with the front clerk, She said chiro would help my condition and if i had insur. it would cover chiro and for a small fee i'd could also get the reflex. You have to understand i was in so much pain with my foot and the upper back near my shouldar blade. I mean my right side from neck to foot was bad. I figured i'd giver her and reflex a shot since the chiro that i had been going to for 2-3 years before made my condition worse when i went to go see him. He used some tapping tool. Anyways i seen the chiro i'm having the issue with, i see her a total of 3 times. 1st visit she really popped my back and neck. The 2 times following it was quick and my back wouldnt pop, less than 5 min with her and off she'd send me. So I went back to family Dr. and she put in for chiro serivices. Insurance accepted but sent me to another chiro office for 1 visit and consault, after that i was given 10 visits. I continued getting reflex and no chiro from the refle office and I was still given a recipet because it was for flex acct it qualified because i had an rx for it. Flex office never gave me a problem and told me that rx is good for 1 year.

I have my paper work that shows only reflex services were received , i turned those in and i turned in my chiro reciepts from my current chiro and never an issue. Today the chiro dr. happen to be standing there and got involved in my conversation. Reflex isnt covered by my insurance and i told her thats all i was there for I have been getting reflex as needed since aug 2011 .

With my current chiro i just get a reciept with my name, amount paid and a stamp of the business and thats all thats needed, When i did accupunture for the same issue he wrote a letter and why i needed it after that just the reciept with amount it cost, never an issue. When i first start the front clerk is the one that told me i needed the medical code, she seemed very knowledgable about how everything worked and it was smooth until now.

It sounds like the new office isn't considering you a patient. If you only went there for reflexology, it is probably being considered a leisure visit. I know many people who go for massages monthly and they are not able to write them off to the FAs because they go for pleasure and not medical reasons.

I think if you went to the appointment with a referral from your doctor then they would have considered you a more as a patient and not just a client.

ETA: Okay, I see you had an Rx--you should be able to submit a copy of that along with your receipt. However, the receipt should indicate where it is from and what service was rendered, not just a CC receipt that prints out of the machine.

Ditto. As the former manager of a Chiro office. What this Dr. had done to you is unacceptable. She is just fishing for more business. Seems to be putting her own wallet before the care of her patients.....Even if they straightening the flex issue out, I would still move on to someone new. It doesn't matter what services are rendered they by law have to hive you a receipt. If she continues to deny you that, I would let her know that you will contact the Insurance Commissioner and the Chiro Association. Remember, move on. It's Dr.s like this that give the procession a bad rap. Good luck to you.

Thats exactly how i felt like she was fishing for more business. An insurance chaser. Thanks for the info on who to notify. If she's doing this to me imagine how many others she's done this to.

Last year the front clerk that helped me knew what she was talking about and she seemed by the book when it came to codes. She's the one that told me i need the codes for reflex so Flex sees its a treament for medical and not pleasure. Maybe i'll call flex and see if the codes are necessary since i have rx and a regular recipet which i'll ask for a regualr hand written one that says $$ reflex and business name.

I talked to my chiro today and he was shocked. He also said she should give me a reciept for treament i got and not just the creditcard recipet. I told him I would like to continue to see the therapist at the old place but it will depend on how that chiro handles my felx issue. Then i asked him if the massage therapy at his office would qualify for felx. He said yes since its a medical issue and he will give me whatever paperwork i need to help me get reinbursement. He even said he will give me a letter so i can continue to get reflex at the place i get it at now since its for my problem area. He said Let me know what i can do so you get the treament you need to feel better. He knows i go to another office to get reflex and he has never said not to he said if it works and i feel better good. This chiro dr. has changed my life and given me hope. It been a long process but he has really helped me and 1st visit i could see he truly cares about his patients-what a difference and i told him i'm not ever changing chiro Dr and he is stuck with me-lol!

And you may need to get a new prescription as they usually write the number of treatments or weeks needed. It is not just open ended.

Mine doesnt have a number amt of reflex visit the rx is good for a year . I will be getting a new one. Its been a long process with my condition. i can walk better. when it first started it was horrible. My dd13 walked across the den and was bend over to the right and was limping looked like hunchback with bad limp and she laughed and said"gues who walks like this?'
i sadi who, she said you do mom.
I then realized how bad i really was

I dont think dd and dh really knew how bad i was cause i pushed myself and forced myself to get up and go to work. By the end of a 5 hr shift i was in so much pain and my whole foot and leg felt swollen and my upper right side hurt and i'd just sit infront of the tv with foot up.

At work my coworker would ask if i was ok and mi'd say why. She would say cause your limping, i didnt even realize it. Now i still feel tightness and some pain but i can still function. I'll still quailfy for medical RX. I usually use up my flex amount within 5-6 month and my amount is $2400. This year $2500

OP, did you know that there are medical treatments for plantar fasciitis? Have you visited a podiatrist or an orthopedist or even your PCP recently? You might have other options...and they most likely would be covered by insurance.

I had it, so I understand the pain (note that I used the term in past tense). I did not have surgery to correct it.

Good luck to you.

When i went to my Family Dr. she gave me a sheet of info and stretches. She told me to get shoe insert for heel and arch support. That was it. I on my own start accup, chiro and reflex to see if those would help. It's like my whole right side started giving me issues so i'm not sure if its all due to plantar fasciitis or what but seems like my shouldar blade pain stiffiness acts up so does my arch sorness. The pain in the heel is actially better but theres a soreness tightness in the inner foot where arch and heel connect.

With your plantar fasciitis did you experince any issue like i mentioned?

BTW- i only wear tennis shoes to work with inserts and tone up sandels with arch support arount he house or when i'm not working. no heels or shoes without my inserts or i will regret it. My condition is a lot better but not 100% but when i first got it man I thought my life was over

I didn't have pain in my shoulders, no. But you could have other issues or your foot pain could be causing your gait to change. I saw a specialist to help me with mine.

My plantar fasciitis was mostly heel pain but there was a tightness like you describe...if I were to describe it, it felt like a guitar string that was wound too tight over my arch. I swear, it seemed like I could almost "strum" it as I massaged it!

I wear highly supportive cross-training athletic shoes to work and Birkenstocks for casual wear. I. NEVER. Walk. In. Bare. Feet.

Ever.

One of my exercises was to roll my foot over a tennis ball any time I am sitting, like while watching tv. I still do this sometimes (and will be bringing some tennis balls with me to WDW next week!).

I would see if your PCP would consider sending you to a Podiatrist. Mine was great.

ok Thanks. At first the heel pain was so horrible that i hated to get up off the couch, chair at work and i hated getting up in the middle of the night to go potty. Night was the worst as i'd have to get up 2-3 times a night.

If i was in the kitchen and walk to the den to sit down and i forgot something i'd dread it cause the the walk back to the kitchen seemed so far away , when it really not, but when your in pain its torture-lol! I liked the tennis ball and i liked the frozen water wall, rolling my foot on it- an no i didnt drink it-hahaha!

Last night the reflex therapist said she could feel how tight mt arch was and she worked on it boy was it tight! Felt good afterwards.

My dd13 tells me to get prettier sandals and i told her i dont care what my sandals look like as long as i'm not in pain my shoes arent the coolest but i'm not in pain-lol!

I wear black scketchers shoes and scketcher black flip flops and sandel
tone-ups
