Is Chefs de France really that bad?

This might be a lunch choice for us. A SOOO want a crepe. Do you think I should make an ADR or it is pretty walk-in friendly?

DH and I have had good luck with walk-ups, but it really depends on the number in your party and the time of year you go. I would recommend making an ADR--you can always cancel it. DH and I have cancelled ADRs as little as 30 minutes ahead of time (like when our check-in took forever when we were at WDW in January) and it's not a problem at all.

DH has the ADR number programmed into his cell. :cool2:

We LOVED Chefs De France and are going again this year. If there are menu items you think you'll like I'd go for it. I love the atmosphere!

:) Another yes vote.

We were there last June and last October. June was only dinner... food was good (except for the calamari... it was over cooked), the service was probably the best we've had.. fast, prompt, seemed to be there an instant before I knew I needed them... but not overly friendly.
October we had lunch and dinner our last night. Same as above.. food good, service perfect.

I ALWAYS order creme brulee if the restaurant serves it. I love it! They have very good creme brulee.. not the best, but very nice, and a large portion. I still prefer the Concourse with the vanilla bean shavings on the bottom.. YUM!

If you really wanted to try Chefs de France.. I would say go for it :)

Our all time fav restaurant will always be Boma. And if it's your birthday, maybe you can get some deep fried oreos for dessert!

Have a great time

We used to love it. No more, however. They've added so many more tables it feels as if you're sitting on the laps of the people at the next table. It is unrelentingly noisy. And, the food quality has declined terribly since the advent of DDP.

The wine choices are still good. I guess that's because wine isn't included on the DDP. Since you pay extra for it, the quality is still there.

Overall experience -- not good anymore.

Dinner there was okay - very crowded but the food was good.

Lunch, however, was excellent. Went late - around 2pm - were the only ones in our entire section. Food was excellent!

I thought it was horrible. I wouldn't eat there again even if it was completely free. The food had no flavor, but more importantly the staff was verrryyy rude for our visit. Maybe it was intentional for the theme, but I didn't enjoy our visit there at all. Just wanted to get out of there asap!

No, it is not walk-up friendly. Every time we've eaten there we see them turn people away.

We love Chefs! We've had excellent dinners there!

We went for dinner in October 2007 and didn't care for it.

*CM seating us refused to bring a different (not broken) high chair for DS2. We had to literally tie him in and continue re-tying him throughout the meal. Even though we asked politely for a different high chair twice before he left us at the table.

*Server was short with us, and inattentive throughout the meal. He did start talking to us the closer it got to giving us a bill and even tried to work us for a little for a bigger tip. (Telling us a hard luck story)

*Very Pretty, but very noisy. Tables really are close to each other.

*Food was mediocre other than the French Onion soup, which was the best French Onion soup I have had - ever. (I really like French food, even the buffet at Paris in Vegas is a better dining experience - food wise - than this specialty French restaurant in Disney.)

*Desserts were ho-hum considering we were in France and should have been out of this world.

We only went there once, for lunch, which was mediocre. The tuna sandwich I had at Columbia Harbor House was better than the sandwich I had at Chef de France and cheaper too. The service was fine.

My sister and I had dinner there in October. It was good. Nothing memorable.

We had dinner there last August and came away with mixed feelings. The service was probably the worst we had all week. We were never offered rolls, no drink refills until we had asked several times. Our waitress seemed very tired of explaining the dining plan options.

Food was Ok for us ... not great, not terrible. We did, however, love the french onion soup and creme brulee. So we are going back for a light lunch next trip. For us the soup is worth a return trip, but I don't think I'd go for dinner.

We had ADR's made 6 mos in advance, and they were still extremely "unfriendly"

We had the same experience. Very cold and distant service, he really didn't pay any attention at all, no refills, he wasn't near our table throughout the meal to ask him for anything... etc. Until.... it was almost time to get our bill. We were done eating, then it was "do you need anything?"

I would much rather go to Le Cellier than Le Chefs. :snooty:

Was that the only time you ate there? We have had many meals there and have not had service that bad. Granted, some servers are better than others, but it's never been terrible.

It was one of the favourite places of our trip.

The tuna was rare and the duck breast was medium-rare, just as they should be.

It was the best meal of our trip last time. Everyone loved their food and the service was very good. I was gonna cancel these ressies because of bad reviews but I am so glad we didnt.:thumbsup2 I had the bacon and onion flatbread, the filet, sorbets and all was outstanding.

We ate there recently and had a wonderful meal and experience. We had a very nice table on the window in the side/back area and our waiter was very efficient. We had the French onion soup and filet with potatos/vegetables. All three of us enjoyed the food very much and the desserts were very good too.

If you go I hope you have a good experience too.

We were there in March and the food was not good... service was ok, I will not go back.. I have to say there were 5 of us dining and not one of us had a good thing to say.. Our daughter ordered the French cheese plate and the goat cheese was frozen....like solid...not sure if it was just a bad night, but eveything was off.

Here is Kevin's review on the Dis, seems they had a better meal than we did:

I know this restaurant sometimes does not get good reviews. I avoided it in the past because of the reviews. I can honestly say we enjoyed are meal very much and will go back. We ate here 2 weeks ago (5 adults)

Appetizer: Mushroom Tart-Awesome.

Soups: Leek and potatoes-Not great all ground up with carrots had a sweet taste.
French Onion Soup: Good, not salty at all.

Meals: I had the duck very good, DD the tenderloin very good. DH the roasted chicken good. Friend the short ribs very good. Friend Lamb shank very good.

I thought they did an excellent job pairing the wines with the food.

Our waiter was awesome and I didn't find it noisey at all.

I have ADRs here for my 21st birthday, May 3rd. I'm worried because I have heard nothing but bad things about this place. Is there anybody who likes it or is there another place you think that I should go instead? We were planning on spending the day in EPCOT and then heading over to MK after dinner to see Spectromagic.

We had a 8 people dinner at Chefs de France on our last night. Our only complaint is that the service was very slow. It was however, friendly and the food was just excellent.
