Is Chef Mickey's Great fora Character Breakfast?

I am planning on doing one character breakfast for my ds while at Disney. This will be for his b-day so hoping this will be a good choice. He doesn't want to do Cinderella at all. He will be 7 so is there a better or more fun place for a character breakfast for a boy. I keep seeing lots of great reviews about Chef Mickey so how far in advance would try to book the date? We are going in Jan so plenty of time but I want to make sure we get it booked for around 8-8:30 b/c we are going to do MK afterwards. I'm not sure if we are doing MK twice on the trip or not but I'm leaning towards doing it twice. We are going to be there from 2nd until the 7th so his b-day is on a Sunday. Just trying to plan this trip now and get a good idea of what we will be doing that week. I am just so excited about the trip and can't wait.

This isn't about dining but would it be better to get 3 hoppers and do 2 parks in 1 day or get 4 base passes? The only parks we want to do is MGM, Epcot and MK. That's it and the Richard Petty driving experience for dh but that same day we will be hitting Downtown for legos and Star Wars.

We did Chef Mickey's a few years back. The food was pretty good and the character interaction was very good.

As far as the hopper option, we always get the hopper option. We like to bounce around (especially to Epcot to eat).

We did a late breakfast there this March 2nd. Plenty of good food and each character spent time with each of our grandchildren. Boys should like this as much as girls, but we have granddaughters so there's no personal experience with that. FWIW, we toured MK before the breakfast, not after.

We haven't done Chef Mickey's yet (hard to believe) but another thought is the Breakfastosaurous at AK. It is very boyish.

That's it. I knew there was another one I was looking into. Donald's Breakfastsaurus (sp?). He is into dinos so that sounds like a lot of fun. I guess I just need to write all this down and go from there. So much to do and so little time.

We did Chef Mickey's in '04 and it was awesome!!! All the characters spent time at our table (except we didn't see Donald) and the food was great! We are doing Chef Mickey's again and we are adding Crystal Palace w/the Pooh characters for dinner our first night.

Chef Mickeys has Rice Krispy Treats on the breakfast buffet. Is there a more perfect thing than that? I think not.

In all honesty, I would certainly recommend it for your DS. I think he'd have a blast waving his napkin during the "celebration", the character interaction is great, and the buffet isn't too shabby either! If he's into Winnie the Pooh at all, we also LOVE the Crystal Palace for breakfast.

I read somewhere that they have a special birthday table at Chef Mickey.

We did Chef Mickey before and loved it. Crystal Palace was great too.

We are trying Garden Grill at Epcot this time with rotating restaurant and Mickey dressed in Farmer clothes.

We went to Chef Mickey's on our honeymoon for breakfast, and loved it!!! Make sure when you make reservations to tell them about the birthday-we (along with kids having birthdays) got special desserts and placemats for our "special day"!

The charachters were great-Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto were there that morning. They each came to our table for pictures and/or autographs. The food was pretty good too! I would call early...I booked several months out and ended up with a late time of about 10:50AM. January may be slower, but it never hurts to call early.

Chef Mickey's is excellent and you all get your photo taken as well. Highly recommend it.

Thats great,were going in october for our 2 year old sons first trip and are doing chef mickeys,and have been worried how it was.I did it over 25 years ago when i was a kid but things have changed.I feel alot better now,hes just starting to like mickey mouse so i know hell love seeing him.

As far as a park hopper. I am a planner. If you plan well you do not need it. We ended up adding it on our last trip and only used it maybe twice. The cost was $160.00.

Chef Mickey's is fantastic, our 7 year old daughter's favorite character meal by far.

We are also planners but we like to change our minds too... and have flexibility. Sometimes a park seems too crowded so we go to another park... or we simply finish up and want to move on. So we always have park hoppers or an annual pass.

We aren't big breakfast eaters and my ds wants to go to Chef Mickey's again. We did breakfast last time, but I was wondering what dinner is like?? My kids are dying to do the ice cream station w/ all the toppings.
