is Chef Mickey's food that bad?

We find the food ok...not bad....not great but expensive for ok food. We have however had GREAT character interaction there. We went with extended family and have wonderful pictures. We do go back and will next trip. Stick with breakfast as it's a little cheaper and pretty basic stuff. We saw adult interaction there better than a lot of places. At CP we saw a lot of adults just waved at and passed by.

Without kids....stay away. Much better places to go than Chef Mickey's for 3 adults.

If you need characters, try 1900 Park Fare ( The wicked Stepsisters are awesome!) or Garden Grill ( personal one on one character interaction).

For a great meal we like : Cape May at Beach Club, and Whispering Canyon Cafe @ Wilderness Lodge.

I've only been to Kona for Breakfast. It's good, but if you're looking for atmosphere, not the place for you.

Good luck!

We have done breakfast there before. This trip we will be having dinner there our first night before Pirate and Pals. I would prefer someplace but I was outvoted by everyone else. I just hate the noise there.

I ate there for Dinner in April 2009 and thought it was really, really bad food. So bad that I had to get dinner afterwards. I won't go to dinner there again but I'd be willing to try breakfast there.

If it wasn't for dd wanting to eat with the characters, we'd never eat dinner there again. We didn't enjoy the food there at all. IMO, breakfast was okay, but dinner was awful.

We go to see all of the fab five with our kids so we don't have to line up for them. Now, the food was not fabulous - but not awful either. My DH is not a breakfast person so Tusker House is out for us (maybe one day!).
We are going back and looking forward to it. We had a good server, did not feel rushed and had lots of time with all of the characters - especially Pluto once we told him he was DH's favorite!

It's a buffet which are really not known for knock out food. It will be edible but that's about it. The characters are the reason most folks go. So if you want to have fun seeing the characters go, if you want a good meal skip.

I have been there a few times for dinner and thought their food was good, however it was not as good when comparing it to the food items offered at Boma.

Hmm, I was thinking of trying Kona, maybe my family would be more satisfied with that choice instead.

Kona is one of my favorites! Everything I have had from there isgood, and so are the desserts!! I would go there over CM any day.

Oh, Chef Mickeys breakfast is good, but I will only go back when I have kids :).

We went to CM for breakfast at the beginning of October and really liked our meal. The food was pretty basic, but it was all tasty, though some of it was cold, since we did an 11:20 breakfast seating and they were finishing up for breakfast. We don't have any kids, so it was a nice way to see the characters without waiting in line at the parks.

It's a matter of personal taste, etc. For instance, a lot of people love Whispering Canyon Cafe and you couldn't pay us to eat there ever again; a lot of people don't like Mama Melrose, and we have never had a bad meal there. Every restaurant can be hit or miss. We used to love Chef Mickey's; however, our last dinner there was very disappointing, but we do still enjoy breakfast. If it something you really want to try, I say go for it.

well its not my favorite place but its okay to eat at.BUT... the breakfast at cm wasnt that bad we enjoyed it. t.:thumbsup2

Well we think Chef Mickey's dinner buffet is quite nice (not fantastic or anything). I had worse food at 1900 park fare buffet and people rave about that place. Chef Mickey has the party atmosphere going on which makes it a nice experience in my opinion. Foodwise Crystal Palace I think has the best dinner buffet.:surfweb:

Is Chef Mickey's food that bad?
We are three adults who want to go for the dining experience, but don't want to regret not having a good decent meal.
Do you leave Chef Mickey's disappointed in the food selections or quality?
Is there usually a wait to be seated?

really, there aren't that many meat options. but! this is by far the best character b-fast. ohana's food is SUPER limited, as it is family style. this year we are trying 1900 and tusker.

i say, if you want an amazing start to your magical day, chef mickeys is the way to go (and if you are on the dining plan, stop at main st bakery for a snack if you are left hungry :goodvibes )

We went for the first time last year with low food expectations but were pleasantly surprised. Everything was hot and fresh, soup and mashed potatoes were yummy! We had a blast! Though the food wasn't spectacular, it was good and filing. We are going back next week.

Had breakfast there on Saturday. After previous good experiences, we were very disappointed this time. The food was cold & tasted like it had been under the warming lights for a long time (at 9:15 am). The service was slow & the cost was much higher than expected - over $100 -before the tip - for 3 adults. The only good part was that the character interaction was great for my 2 yr old grandson & it saved us from standing in line to meet Mickey & company.

Been here many times, I never really liked it that much, we go for my nieces/nephew. Personally I think this places tries to be cheap with the food, they are riding on the characters. We are a big party (9+) and I don't think we have ever been sat on time, almost always a 20 minute wait past ADR. The last time (few weeks ago) we had to wait over 40 minutes plus Mickey and Goofy skipped our table! We were able to get them over to our table finally after some complaining.
