i was going to do a Cat 2 but i was told that will be a lot of room for 3, considering te amount of time we will spend in te room, is a cat 3 roomy enoug for us is the verandah a nice size

Are these three adults? Not related?

You surely don't spend a whole lot of time in your room. I'd definitely get something with the split bathroom, but wouldn't necessarily get a cat 3 so that 3 ppl can have enough room. You have a ship with 10 decks, 964 feet in length, surely there will be enough room SOMEWHERE for everyone. ;)

Seriously though....You don't spend that much time in the room. At least I don't. We cruise with 4 in a cat 6 (usu two adults and two kids, although once it was 3 adults and 1 kid)

can someone who has stayed in a cat 3 stateroom, let me know about the size and space for 3 2 adults and 1 child,

The two adults would have a bedroom of their own. The child would have a sofa bed in the living room. The rooms will hold 5 and are very roomy. You'll have no trouble in a category 3.

thank you so much, they told me it has 2 bathrooms and also a pull down bed in the liingroom i just wanted to make sure we are not cramped, i can save 1800.00 from the cat 2 to 3 and maybe someone with more people can use it

The pull down bed is for the 5th person. The 4 cabins in the center are the largest and the 5th bed is in the living room and the balcony is larger. They end in 32 and maybe 34, I think. The pull down bed is in the bedroom for all the other category 3 rooms. It wouldn't matter in your case because with only one child they can take the sofa bed and you still maintain the master bedroom privacy.

We stayed in a Cat. 3 last Oct. We are a family of 5 and my kids are 14, 12 and 9. We were in a mid ship cat 3 so our pull down bed was in the living area and the room was a bit different than the others but it was plenty of space for our family. We do stay in the room more than most people so space is important. You will not feel a bit cramped in a cat 3 with 3 people.

We stayed in 8034 (midship cat. 3) in December. It was amazing! ! ! :D (Honestly, I'm kind of tough to impress, but it was great). Plenty of room. The living area was huge (although it's not as big in other Cat. 3's). Big Deck. It was the first time that I've not used all of the drawers and shelves when unpacking. 2 full baths. The master has dual sinks, whirlpool tub, sep. shower and toilet. The other is just a regular bath with shower (no tub). 2 large TV's, VCR, Dining Table, Wet Bar, Walk in Closet.

I have some great pictures. Just send me a PM if your interested, and I'll get them to you.

FYI- We were 2 adults, 1 child as well.

Many of us find that a much lower category is sufficient for three or four people.

We had four in a Cat 6. I wouldn't want to spend 14 days like that, but it was fine for four and will be fine for seven.

The Passporter lists the category 3 stateroom as 614 sq feet. The cat 2 is 945 sq feet. The Passporter also has floor plans.

Book early, there are only 18 cat 3s on ship. And 2 each cat 1s and 2s!

(Another option is the connecting room. You loose the wet bar and concierge service. Possibly save some money).

We had 2 adults and a 6' teenage boy in a Cat. 4 and it was fine for the amount of time we were actually in the room.

We had 8546 and I was disappointed. Go find my trip report from July 01. This room had a lot of flaws and I was glad I did not pay for my cruise (gift from my mom). DS7 slept in the sofa bed & we had the bedroom & never had to open the pull-down bed. Don't know how we could have; there was a chair and ottoman in the bedroom right in front of the pull down bed and I have no idea where it was supposed to go if the bed had been set up. We had DS16m in a pack & play which took up more room + we had a high chair brought to our cabin for DS16m.

The door to the veranda in the sitting room was not usable when the sofa bed was setup. You had to climb over the bed to get to the veranda when the sofa bed was set up for someone to sleep in. You could not utilize any of the stereo equipment when the sofa bed was set up as there was only a few inches of space between the bed and the entertainment unit where this equipment was. We left the CD player on when we went to dinner one night, and when we returned the sofa bed was set up and I had to lie down on the sofa bed and reach down to turn off the CD; there was no other way to reach it. Sitting room was very crowded with too much furniture (sofa + 2 end tables, 2 arm chairs, coffee table, credenza, dinette with four chairs, entertainment unit + wet bar) crammed into living area. Could not open cupboard doors on the wet bar as there was always a dinette chair pushed up against it. The rest of my family was in 8532 and 8534. These cabins had a bigger sitting area with the pull down bed in the sitting room. I wrote a letter to DCL after our cruise. They said the cabin was priced according to the amenities available in the suite. I still thought the cabin was too crowded and should be sold as a different category from the 32 and 34 rooms.

I have two adjoining cat 6 cabins booked for the next cruise this summer. I will miss the extended menus for breakfast but will not miss the crammed living area with too much furniture and climbing over the sofa bed to get to the veranda. HappyLawyer, DO NOT BOOK A CAT 3 CABIN UNLESS YOU ARE BOOKING ONE THAT IS A 32 OR 34 CABIN!

i think mine is a 36

8036 and 8536 are Cat. 4 Deluxe Family Staterooms with Verandah. Check your number. There's a huge difference between this non-suite stateroom and a Cat. 2 or 3.

Hi. I have sailed in a midship cat 3 on the Magic. DH and I slept in the master bedroom, which had its own full bath, including jacuzzi tub and shower, and a walk-in closet.

The pull down bed was in the living room area (DD6 slept there), and there was queen size pullout couch.(DS14).

If two people will be in the same bed, using the master suite, and the third in the pull out couch, then you will be fine.

The verandah span the master bedroom, living/dining rooms. Very roomy.

no i had a cat 2 booked for a year but i was looking at the amount of time we would spend in the room and there are only 3 of us, perhaps someone with more people could use the cat 2

That's really generous of you, but if you have it booked and can afford it, why not treat yourself? You can't control who goes into the stateroom after you, and it might be a family of three like yourselves. It might be someone traveling just as a couple who has selfishly demanded a suite. They are hard to get and this might be your only chance to splurge.

Larger families have other options - like connecting rooms.

Besides, if you are going to be nice about it, and we are all going to be jealous, at least it will be someone in there who will write a nice trip report.....

We area family of five and on our first 3 cruises had a cat 4, very comfortable and never felt cramped. On our last cruise in Sept. we were up graded to a cat 3, and it was awesome. There is more than enough room for three, as 5 of us felt like we were in a condo on the sea. We loved having our own bathroom and the kids, 17, 14 and 8, had no trouble sharing the other bathroom.

we are going to be on vacation from dec 8 until the 23rd, i will be treating myself all through the vacation, but there is no need to waste 2k for more room them we need and the amount of time we will be in the cabin, if i had 2 children i would have stayed in the cat 2 but my dtr will be 10 when we go
