When I go on my trip to WDW in January, I want some good sea food. I was hoping Cap'n Jacks would have something good, and it looks like they do. I've looked at the online menu. I was wondering though, if the food is good and/or if it comparable to Red Lobster? :groom:

Well, you seem to be asking two different questions here. Are you wondering if the food at Cap'n Jack is comparable to Red Lobster or are you asking if they have good seafood? I can tell you that their seafood is OK. Not great, not bad. But that's based on my expectations coming from a costal area.

I was wondering if #1: Their food was similar to Red Lobster's food and #2: Is it as good as Red Lobster's sea food. :listen:

Not a Capt Jack's Fan. We had much better seafood at Fulton's.

Cap'n Jack's is OK.....nothing great. But frankly, I don't like Red Lobster so I would rather do Cap'n Jack's. As stated previously, Fulton's is very good but pricey. I like Joe's Crab Shack around the corner and just down the road from The Crossroads shopping center.....nothing fancy but fun and very reasonably priced. I have also heard Landry's is very good too....also, just down the road from The Crossroads.

We do like Cape May Cafe a lot and they specialize in steamed clams and mussels....and a whole bunch of other items. We generally always enjoy our meal here and surely get plenty to eat.

I've heard the Flying Fish is good but a bit pricey. Am giving it a try in January. Maybe someone has been there as well?

We actually like Red Lobster better than Capt. Jacks. We found the selections somewhat small. The food was good and we would eat there again if we were in the area but we wouldn't make a special trip just to eat there.

Red Lobster used to be dh's favorite restaurant years ago. Over time our tastes have "grown up" and we've found other favorites. However, after trying Cptn Jack's last month I can safely say that we'd take Red Lobster ANY DAY over Cptn Jack's. The selection of food was quite minimal. The crab cake appetizer I had was way too salty. The entree I ordered was nasty. The waitress had even warned me that it wasn't a good choice and many people send it back. I didn't heed her advice but should have. I did end up sending it back for the lobster tails instead, but even they weren't very good. The only part of this meal I enjoyed was the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake. Now that was really good!

Oh, and Red Lobster does have those biscuits! Mmmmm! Cptn Jack's served no bread.

Go have seafood somewhere else. Cptn Jack's isn't the place. I should've listed to the warnings on DIS before our visit. They were right on.

We enjoyed our dinner at Captain Jack's. If you are on the dining plan, it is a great value for your credits. We both had the twin lobster tails and they were very good! It's hard to compare to Red Lobster - Captain Jack's menu is much more limited. The lobster tails were bigger and better at Captain Jack's to me and the atmosphere can't be beat - it's out on the pier with great views of the water.

We prefer Captain Jack's over Red Lobster. At least CJs doesn't taste like a glorified cafeteria.

We had dinner at Captain Jack’s and I think if your in the area and you have viewed the menu ahead of time, seen something that appeals to you then I say go. As when it comes to lobster tails there is so little difference from one place to the next and the only thing they can do to mess those up is to over cook them. Hey for the price and location enjoy your meal, we did!

If you are loking for a Red Lobster type dinner try Narcoosees. It is everything I remember about Red Lobster.

I ate at Jack's several years ago. Never again. Food was pretty poor as was the selection.

Cap'n Jacks is worth it if you are DDP. I got the crab cake appetizer and twin lobster tails which were just fine. I also like Red Lobster, but not Joe's Crab Shack. I guess the question is "is price an issue?" Friends of ours (a family of 4) spent $250 on a dinner at Fulton's - something I would never do.

I don't remember what our main course was but a year later I still drool thinking about the clam chowder. It was fantastic, and the service was very good. They sat us at the bar, and we had a really great time.

Are you serious? Red Lobster is a disgusting nightmare and I was hoping to try Narcoosees one of these days. Is it really that horrible???

I agree that Cap'n Jacks and Red Lobster are not very good seafood but I am from a coastal area as well. I call Red Lobster Iowa seafood (no offence to the people from Iowa). It's just the same chain restaurant food that is over cooked, over seasoned and everything on the menu taste alike. If you want decent seafood at WDW you should go to Fulton’s or Cape May.

JMHO....years back it used to be a great restaurant. Now it is just like Red Lobster with terrible service. years ago there was a huge ADR line waiting to get in....not anymore. Some people may say it's their favorite restaurant, and the food is great..but I remember what it was like. the only thing it does have going for it is the location, but so what....

We will go back when we read consistant rave reviews

Captain Jack's is a dive. Red Lobster is much better but even that isn't saying too much. Go to Fultons where they know how to prepare seafood and actually serve REAL seafood.
