Is Cali grill impossible to get 180d +? thoughts on Narcoossee

My ADR date is tomorrow - I am looking to try for Cal grill for the 4th day of our trip. I have been looking at what has been available right at the 180d mark and it is very limited -9:45 pm or only for a table of 1 or 2 (we will be a party of 3). Of course that is right at the tail end of thanksgiving so a very busy time, but I believe the week after thanksgiving free dining is offered, so I am guessing ADR's will be more competitive.

Any thoughts on this? Should i have a back up plan? This is our top choice for this trip as we have already done the usual Ohana and BOG -- so this might be the other sought after almost unattainable reservation.

I think we are also considering Narcoossee if unable to get Cal Grill. It seems the view is impressive from there as well, but have not researched reviews - any input or comparison on these two?

I've eaten at both quite a number of times. CG has the high view and sushi. Narcoossee's has a low view (which, frankly, isn't much better than standing on the Grand Floridian's boat dock) and whole Maine lobster. While my wife and I prefer Narcoossee's due to the food, either is a great choice.

I've never had a problem getting even a last minute ADR at Cali Grill, and we often go over Thanksgiving Break. Having said that, I prefer to go without ADRs and eat in the lounge. Arrive at opening or maybe an hour or so before closing to ensure that you can get a spot.

My 180 day was Monday and I was able to get two Cali Grill ADRs, (Sunday brunch and dinner during the week) just when I wanted them. Good luck!

ADR day was Sunday. For Cali Grill I have a 6:55pm for 2 on 60+2 and a 8:00pm for 2 on 60+5. We plan to use both. There was a lot of availability so i don't think you'll have a problem.

It seemed to me that, with Free Dining being offered that week, the 2 credit restaurants were much easier to book then the 1 credit. Maybe just a fluke but that's how it seemed. Had no trouble with Cali Grill but couldn't get Sci Fi at 60+3.

Keep trying. We have not had trouble getting and ADR for CG. Although not always exactly the time we wanted, but can usually get close.

Thanks so much! It gives me hope. I think i was worried because i was looking at what was open the week prior -- well thanksgiving is a different monster so hopefully we get what we want because the week after will certainly be a little quieter.

I was able to get CG on my 180 for the day and time that I wanted (late October). Still, it's always good to have a back up plan and check back once you are on property. Have fun tomorrow!

I was actually able to get a 7:30 CG ADR yesterday for 9/1. I had a search set on Touring Plans hoping to improve on my 8:50 ADR since it should be an 8:30 fireworks night. Score!

I was able to get a 7:30 California Grill reservation for my first day of my trip when I booked it on Tuesday for 11/25. I did book right at 6am though, so I would be sure to log on early!

OP here-- I was right online at 6am and was able to get Cal grill, but it was for 6:10p for 11/30. There really wasn't much to choose from. A little earlier than we wanted but i figure i will try the reservation finder to get a little later.

I can't complain as we are just excited to eat there. i'm guessing if we are done early there is a lounge or outside area we can chill at until the fireworks

There is a MVMCP that night so I think the fireworks usually go off a little later around 10:00pm.
I was going to look into that once the trip got a little closer -- I figured a party night would change the schedule a bit. We are planning on a monorail tour that evening so if done dinner before the fireworks we are cool with going to the top of the world lounge or making a stop at the Polynesian. We are really hoping to make this a more relaxed trip and not worrying or rushing from here to there so we are cool with catching the fireworks where ever we might be at the time.

I got a CG reservation for 9:00 on day 8 of our trip. This is our first time to eat here and so excited to watch the fireworks from here. This is the last night of our trip and I hope it will be a special evening.
