is Budget like Thrifty? (fast talking insurance sales)

I just read the thread about Thrifty and how they fast talk customers into insurance. I'm using budget rental car and I'm wondering if I need to be prepared for the same kind of pressures to upgrade and buy insurance, two things I won't need.

I've rented from Budget many times (not just in Orlando) and have never received high-pressure insurance sales pitches.

I haven't rented fro, Budget (yet...we have them booked on an upcoming trip), but I really think it's a matter of the salesperson you end up with, not necessarily the company. I've had pushy and not pushy sales reps. at Thrifty and Alamo, and to a lesser extent at Avis and Hertz. They seem to be less pushy when I rent through Priceline, probably because it's prepaid and they figure I'm a cheapskate if I'm booking through Bill Shatner.

You just need to be able to say no more than five times. You don[t want basic coverage if you want to decline the insurance and coverages, rather you want no coverage.

But caution, if you neither have collision coverage on your credit card nor your car back at home, you really ought to buy that coverage from the rental company.

It also helps if you join their free membership programs-Budget's Fastbreak. They will ask you on your profile whether or not you accept or decline things like insurance etc. and they never ask you again when you go to rent your car. I really liked Budget and Dollar rentals-never a hassle or problem. I believe Budget also mails out a discount coupon for either 10% off or free upgrade when you get your membership card.
