Hi there,

We too think Brent is a great cruise director and he is coming back to the Magic in the next few weeks to take over from Peter Hoffa then to take the ship through it's drydock period and back to the States. He is working on the future Magic plans with contractors as we speak and it's more than likely he will do the Wonder when it comes to do it's BIG drydock also.

I heard this from Peter himself, it's all to do with working with the same people they worked with doing the Dream and Fantasy.

Peter had just came back from vacation after the transatlantic and took over from Darren, although we and others thought his perfomance seemed far from what we remembered Peter from previous cruises, he seemed as if he was just going through the motions, so to speak. It was just poor, mind you Darren CD (ex Youth Activities) wasn't much better, they just seemed lacklustre.

We saw Brent on the 6/15-6/22 Eastern. Clayton was the CD but Brent was still onboard. We spoke to him at the Castaway Club meeting and as PP have mention he is heading to the Magic and will lead the refit drydock.

YEAH thank you...we are going on the Magic in January after the dry dock so it sounds like he will be on :cool1: He has always been our favorite..thank you for the info

We had Brent several years ago and we will be on the Magic in February...that would be awesome to have him again!

Any word on how long he will stay with the Magic after dry dock? We are cursing on the Magic the first week in March and would love to have him on board!

I agree! We are on the July 25 Magic cruise in the Mediterranean and I am not sure who we will have!

You'll probably have Peter. We had him on the June 1 Med and someone else had just stepped off. We thought he was just OK.

Just got off the June 27-July 9 cruise on the Magic and had Peter. I'd think he would be staying until right around dry dock time. Personally I thought he was really good, but it was only my 2nd cruise.

let me start by this confession/context: i have sailed just 1 dcl cruise.

now, I just don't get the fascination with specific cruise directors.:confused3

i mean, its not like they are friends...just friendly. some, admittedly, are better at working the crowd but pretty much do all the same things at the same time, no?

I DO get the hormonal responses to certain males, however.;)

I didn't used to get it either, but we finally got a great cruise director.

We did the DCL Alaskan last year and we had Jimmy. He was EVERYWHERE and his energy was just amazing. He literally was up deck, in lounges, popping up to host shows. He would run around and hand people blankets, stopped by to take pictures for us, introduce us to other officers. By the end of the we felt like we knew him....like someone you'd have a drink with after work or someone you'd watch a game with.

And obviously we've had some that are not that enthusiastic and just kind of go through the motions (introduce shows, stand by the gangway). It doesn't make or break my cruise, but it adds a level of service that makes the cruise that much better.

My brother once missed Castaway Cay. His cruise director did not set up very many alternate activities and was generally low energy. He felt it made a negative impact on his cruise.

So it depends.

My parents really like Christiaan. I believe he has quite a few fans. He does backflips. :)
