Is BLT Lake view worth extra points

So with the niece you will have 6 in your room, definitely get the 2 bedroom. I am guessing one of your little ones is under 3 due to occupancy levels.

Yes, my littlest one is 2. We had to waitlist the 2BR at BWV. So, now the dilemma is keep the BWV standard view 1BR ORwe can book the BLT lake view 1BR and keep the 2BR waitlisted....

Doesn't the 1 bedroom with no sleeper chair only sleep 4? It seems like you need the BLT room unless you get a 2-bedroom. I'd seriously consider AKV... It is a fantastic experience with lower point requirements than BLT but the same capacity.

For 5 in a 1 bedroom I would always do either Kidani or BLT from a space and bathroom point of view so I would consider whatever view was available worth it.

I really don't think we would like the remoteness of AKV and having to drive everywhere. We like to walk around in the evening.

You can't have five plus one in the BWV one bedroom villa. You can have four plus one under the age of three or five. But not five plus one. If you don't get a two bedroom villa, your niece will need to get another room of her own.

I thought so but are you sure?

Yes. When they started allowing five in the one bedroom villas (before they put the sleeper chair in BLT and AKV - and afterwards OKW), they said five total. Not five plus one. And you would have to provide the sleeping space for the fifth guest (unless the fifth guest was under the age of three and could sleep in the pack and play).

But if you get a one bedroom that sleeps five, you can have the one under the age of three.

Asking us if BLT is worth it almost sounds silly. When we first heard BLT was coming and where it was going, we could not sign up fast enough. Location...location...location. Since signing in 2008 we have only stayed at 2 other resorts, but prefer to come back to BLT every time. We stayed in Contemporary Magic Kingdom View prior to BLT only once...that was all we needed. Everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy a MK view, but the extra points and costs to us do not warrant it. At BLT we prefer bay side or the marina. We typically have at least 6 in our party, and the 2 BR Villa is perfect. We have no problem with any of the furnishings, decor, etc. Maybe we are too easy to please, but we cannot imagine staying anywhere else other than BLT.

While TECHNICALLY correct (and I wouldn't do this myself as I'm too claustrophobic) but with the "plus one" under 3 there is not need for a park ticket or room key, so they could probably "get away" with it. But again, that's too cramped for me.

However, with this "new" information, I would say that the 1 br at BLT is worth it. You will the proximity you enjoy, you would be within the guidelines of occupancy rules...you'd be trying a new resort, you will get extra space in the room (which is sounds like you will need) plus the extra bathroom (will again probably needed). Granted a 2br is even better but no guarantees with waitlist. I say book the BLT and waitlist the the SV BWV 2br.

With 5 plus 1 I actually dont even think they will book 6 in the 1 bedroom....... if you try to book online it will only give options of what will fit in the room. (2 or 3 bedroom) Im pretty sure the same holds true for calling dvc directly.
I guess it cant hurt to try though.

Except that Disney reserves the right to ask people who exceed occupancy rules to leave. I personally wouldn't chance it.

i will be brief, the magic kingdom view is worth it, the lake view is not worth it.

My children enjoy seeing the water parade on the lake. However, we were only in the room 1 night during that time. Any other time the "view" was inconsequential to them.

I can't appreciate a MK view. If I am staying at BLT and want to see the fireworks, castle, or space mountain then the view is much nicer from the park. It is a short walk and much cheaper too ;)

Maybe this question comes down to whether or not you are a "view" person. I am. We always book BW view at the BW and we also love Lake view on the north side of BLT for fireworks at MK. When traveling with kids it is so nice to have them in their pajamas and on the balcony to watch the fireworks, then off to bed. It is easier to get them settled in earlier for the night. No fighting crowds to exit the park. And as a DVCer I have seen MK fireworks and I have fought the MK exit crowds enough times already.

more relevant to the conversation for most: for non-BLT owners, lake view is what you are likely to get if you want to stay at BLT. standard view rooms at BLT are pretty unlikely to be available at the 7 month window...so you'd generally have to be a pollyanna to price standard view. for most of us, it ain't happening.

Our lake view was worth every point we spent on it. We spent a lot of time in the room overlooking Bay Lake, Contemporary, Fort Wilderness, Wilderness lodge, boats, etc just talking, hanging out, sitting on the balcony. We even had a good view of the monorail. It was the most memorable part of the trip.

We had a great room at the top of the south side. I don't know if all lake view rooms would be as good.

I would pay more points than we did to get that room again.
