I think there's a lot of variety of food for a family. Not knowing *your* family (ages) and not knowing your taste, I can't really say. We loved it there. Loved "the show" and loved all the different things on the buffet.

Personally I found it loud and abonoxious.
We we're not the party type and if you enjoy the Octoberfest like atmosphere you might enjoy it. It's just not for us.

We're going for the first time in January. Dh is very excited about the German food (and beer), but the table sharing is another story...

Sharing a table is really not a big deal. You can smile and nod as you sit down, and then enjoy visiting with your family. If you're outgoing, and would like to, you can converse a bit. It's a buffet-people are getting up to go get food, ordering drinks when the servers come, and the band performs periodically. Some folks- (adults as well as kids) enjoy dancing. As I recall, when then band isn't playing there is still music. It's a happy, friendly, but somewhat busy place.
There really aren't opportunities for long philosophical conversations, trust me.

Again, I am not as nice as lilyv. The servers all cluster around to talk to me throughout the meal; my friend and I then are engaged deep in philosophical conversation and don't even notice the other guests at our table.

I have mixed feelings about this place; some items are very good, and it has a good veggie selection, but the lack of authentic dishes and overly Americanized food is disappointing. Plus I am really sensitive to the kitsch factor and the fact that some people tend to think of us as characters in an amusement park rather than real people (yes, in Bavaria many of us do wear Trachten clothing but we are not objects for your amusement)

While the chicken dance is played at Bavarian weddings, I don't like the stereotypical music and try and avoid that part of it.

Oh, I don't know you or your family, OP so I have no clue and didn't vote

Ask 'bavaria' why she left MUC last week..... ;)

(Oktoberfest begins in September, for those who are not aware)

Bavaria, it's always good to hear your thoughts! I think you're an amazingly well traveled person....and also very nice. :goodvibes

Our family had a wonderful time!! Our children (ages 9, 9, and 10) dreaded the meal all day and now can't wait to go back. It was their first experience with German food and although it may be a bit "americanized" as someone put it-- it was German enough that my children tried many new dishes and can't wait to try more. They also loved the table sharing-we always look for a reason to meet a new friend and they enjoyed the show. Hope you have a great time if you decide to go.

our family of 5 has always really enjoyed eating there - lots of music and good food (it can be a little loud but not too bad)
fun experience! enjoy!:thumbsup2

unfortunately - all world restaurants in the World are somewhat Americanized.
kids love to get up and polka and at our last visit they were encouraged to get out on the dance floor. So, it does get a little loud.
Yet, the Biergarten is still a family favorite and I would be in a lot of trouble if we didn't have lunch there during our stay, even though now our kids are now "adults".
Several years ago my dd was selected to lead the orchestra - to be the kappelmeisterin(sp?) She is still extremely proud and had her certificate laminated.

We've been twice and loved it both times. Never had to share a table but we go during slow season and the place was never full. The show is great and the food super yummy!

We enjoyed it, it was probably the least varied food choice for our family last year (which with 25 plus table service meals is saying something!) We thought the food was fine though just not amazing. The band were fun although the children found some of the song choices hilarious for a 'German' set.

We did really well with the people we were sat with as they were two really nice American couples who made a fuss of our well-behaved children BUT we did see two tables and raise our eyebrows. The first was a romantic looking couple sat with a family with wild children - they didn't look happy. The other was a young family similar to ourselves sitting with four young men obviously out to dine more on the beer than the food (we enjoyed the beer ourselves but these lads were obviously inebriated and the family looked really uncomfortable.) Guess with any bench style dining its just luck of the draw.

We LOVE it! I think it's our favorite restaurant at Disney overall!! Not only is it affordable, you also get a lot of options (mac-n-cheese for the kids last two times we went and tons of delicious ethnic food for the adults) and some fun entertainment.

We are a loud, fun-loving family, so this restaurant suits us well!

we always go in a large group of all ages, and *everyone* loves this place! The atmosphere, the dance floor/band make for a real family pleaser.

We all love it! A fun atmosphere and good food! Definitely the most lively restaurant at Epcot (if I am remembering all the restaurants correctly!)

We are going to Biergarten for the first time in December, and we are really looking forward to it! If you have a "situation" at your table (such as young kids sitting with drunks), surely you can ask to be moved to another table. We are going for the food and the atmosphere, so we are looking forward to it being lively.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in all of Disney! The food is great, especially if you love meat. The atmosphere is totally the best. You feel like you are in a town with amazing entertainment and it is just so fun! I love this place

This is one of our favorites also! If you look around you, it looks as though you're in a German village, complete with a full moon! I would not at all say its a loud and obnoxious place. Being seated with others has never been a big deal to us. We just go with the flow. Not everyone wants to talk to strangers, and its always been pretty apparent to us who isn't interested. Most of the time there is at least one family/couple seated with us that we've had interesting conversations with. Many times we've had others who talk amongst themselves. No big deal. Last trip we met two women from England and they were so interesting to talk to...very friendly and we are so sorry we didn't get an email from them. I'm sure they would have obliged. We even have a picture of a family we sat with several years ago.

The food is very good. I'd describe it sort of as German comfort food. Very yummy. I always highly recommend this place!:thumbsup2

My family loves the Biergarten! Although its not the best German food i've ever had its tasty and plentiful!! The beer sampler is also a plus:thumbsup2 The entertainment is fun and my DS looks forward to dragging me out on the dance floor to do the chicken dance! As far as the shared tables go...I am bless with a DW that will talk to ANYBODY, so she usually handles most of the interacting for me. But, honestly, I never once felt uncomfortable sharing a table.

Have a great time:banana:
