Is Behr paint good?

Actually we LOVE Behr paint.

I am a research freak...actually, I am quite obsessive about it...I OVER-research things!

If you do your checking, you will find that Behr got some of the very highest marks from Consumer Reports and other Consumers Research companies online.

It is at Home Depot and they are great.
..you don't have to stick with whatever color they show..they can mix anything you wish! :teeth:

Good Luck :flower:

And only at Home Depot. Behr was a paint company that sold to the general public early on. Then as Home Depot started to grow, they became the exclusive brand of HD. They basically sold the rights to sell the paint to the public in exchange for Home Depot stock. Boy did Behr make a KILLING!

I also do not like the BEhr paints. have used them twice -- a sage green in the bathroom that took two coats (over white!!) and a Disney pink in my girls room that went over a lighter pink. It also took two coats. I have vowed not to use this kind again -- I love Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams. Have had a lot better luck with these brands.

Whats the difference between, flat, semi gloss and satin. Isn't it all about which can unhold more humidity and how much sheen it has to it?

If it matters, we will be painting at the end of June, beginning of July in Florida. I hear that's rain season.

Flat is the cheapest and will dry with no shine-builders use flat as it hides any imperfections in the drywall.
Satin will have a slight sheen to it and be easy to clean up any scuffs or marks in the future.
Semi gloss will have a lot of shine to it and will show any imperfections. Good for bathrooms or kitchens as clean up is great.
Gloss-used mainly for trims, baseboards,etc,

If you will be painting a room red, USE A PRIMER!!! and get the primer tinted the same color as the final coat will be. Your painting job will be a breeze and the coverage will be a lot more even if you use a primer.

I am also a huge fan of American Heritage from Lowes. My house is almost 60 years old and the walls are in bad shape from years of bad paint. We just painted my living room and bed room in 1 coat of primer and 1 coat of paint. The paint made the walls look new again.

I'd suggest, not matter what brand you chose, to get a good primer. I bought (on accident) a shellac (sp?) based primer. It smelled horrid but it did an amazing job on my bedroom walls which had water damage. After that accident I am sure to buy that primer instead of latex. I'll deal with the smell for a little just to get the results.

Our house is done in behr (previous owners painted it) and I'm not thrilled at all and will not be using behr when we repaint. I'm a Benjamin Moore girl.

You might want to wait until you find a house before you decide on paints though. If it's an open floor plan you're going to want something that flows well and if the bedroom is small you're not going to want a dark color for the whole room.

My neighbor painted one of their walls in a dark red. She used one of the designer paints, I believe it was Laura Ashley, and said that it was great!

I agree 100% with this. I've got the ubiquitous Florida open floor plan. As a result, it took DH and I a very long time to decide on a color for the living room, because it also had to work with the dining area and kitchen. Kitchen already had classic Mickey, so the palette already was limited.

Small rooms do best with light colors. That main street lights went into a 6X10 bathroom and that worked well. Original plans were for that room to be a medium blue, and that would have made it feel tiny.

Another thing that I like to do (and shocked DH that I didn't do it in the bathroom) I leave the ceilings white. It gives the illusion of the room being bigger.
