Is Aulani Worth It?

We are cruising to Hawaii in October. We have never been to Hawaii and would like to spend a couple of extra days there. We are looking at staying 3 extra days and thought that staying at Aulani would be the perfect ending to our cruise however it will add on an additional $3500. Is it worth it? What are the pros and cons? Any comments are welcomed. TIA

We are in the process of buying DVC (resale) and Aulani is definitely a place we'd like to go to. However, being very familiar with other timeshare systems, I would never pay those cash rates for a 3-night stay.

Why not use a website where you can rent DVC stays from an owner? It looks like a 3-night stay in a 1BR is around 100-150 DVC points, depending on the view. You can rent those types of stay from other owners directly or on websites like dvcrequest.com at around $20/point. Could save you quite a bit, if you can find availability for your dates.

As a DVC Owner absolutely yes worth it. But I wouldn't for the price you quoted. As Willgan suggested, the Outrigger chain is reputable. Prior to Aulani we stayed at both the Outrigger Reef and the Outrigger Waikiki (as well as ones on Maui and the Big Ialand).
