Is Auberge worth it nowadays?

Hi everyone! I haven't been around much recently because university, work and wedding planning (eek!) have been eating away at my time, but with my uni year drawing to an end and the Disney itch growing stronger, DFi and I are starting to sketch out plans for our December trip!

I've been talking to my mum, and there's the possibility that my family might be joining us this time (albeit staying in a different hotel). Needless to say, my sister and I are getting very excited about this prospect.:rotfl:

Since we'll be visiting around my birthday, we'll probably have a nice meal to celebrate. What we're considering is my mum, my sister and I having an unashamedly girly meal at Auberge (there was a distinct lack of princesses on my last trip - this time I want to rectify that!) whilst DFi, my dad and brother go and eat at Silver Spur or somewhere like that.

I love the idea of Auberge, but last time I checked the reviews were swings and roundabouts. I'm a bit of a foodie and I think the menu looks wonderful, but I was just wondering whether the experience was worth the price? And how many princesses do you generally meet? I loved Inventions last December because the character interaction was great despite our table being slightly older, so I was also wondering what the experience is like if you eat there without young children? The youngest at our table will be my 13 year old sister.

I really want to meet some princesses, but if there aren't many around and they tend to bypass older tables, then I may just go for Inventions again.

So what are your opinions on Auberge recently? Are there many princesses around? What is the interaction like? And is the food as good as it sounds on the menu?

Sorry about the essay, and thanks in advance!

We always eat here as we think the experience is worth the price. Last visit we met Tiana, Belle, Snow White, Cinderella and Prince Charming and the mice.

The time before we met the mice, Cinderella, Belle and the Beast, Ariel and Snow White.

We ate there 2 weeks ago. Brilliant interaction. Fab food. But no professional photographer like in previous years, but still worth the money imo.

There was a family with all grandparents, parents and one 12 ish year old girl, and they still got the same attention as everyone else. I have 2 boys and no girls, and they still got lots of attention from the princesses!

I believe that now they have taken away the photographer cinderella comes round to your table like the other princesses. We haven't been since the changes so someone else may be able to correct me but I think the standard is now to meet the mice, Cinderella, two other princesses and one prince. Whereas before we had always met those plus one more princess. Wine is also no longer included in the price.

I haven't been since the changes but I for one actually think on *paper* that the change with Cinderella sounds better. My DD1 was 3.5 years when we first went and LOVED Cinderella so much but I think she was a little confused why she got to say hello, got a photo taken and then was ushered off to another room (the restaurant) and never saw her again! I think Cinders coming around the restaurant is really good.

No view on the photographer really as to be honest you had to pay for the photo package anyway and it wasn't cheap. We bought it the first visit but didn't bother the second time as we had the same photos on our camera anyway!

Wine - hmm, not a big drinker but with a meal like that it was nice to have a nice glass of wine to finish it off! Plus, no-one likes to think they are paying more (which is now is) for less of something :lmao:.

I would say, if you like the food (and many people don't now the menu has changed, myself included) then that is a great start - the rest will just follow I'm sure :thumbsup2.

ETA - both times we've been there have been adult only tables (normally couples) and they have had the same interaction as other tables!

I agree that it is nicer to have Cinderella walking around the tables but I think in total you now get one princess less because of it which takes a bit away from the value for money. (Not that I think most people would ever describe Auberge as value for money :rotfl2:)

Jo, totally know what you mean, but I did find it odd that Cinderella didn't walk around her own restaurant if you see what I mean....

My girls will be happy to see any but I think I'd be disappointed if we didn't see 3 Princesses in that time..... for that money ::yes::. Especially as I'll be eating very little - at least that will be one meal where my diet will come into play :rotfl2:....

Would be nice to see 'different' Princesses but that's probably hoping for too much. I have read once that Rapunzel was there and also Tiana but knowing our luck it will be the usual ones we've seen before - not complaining though as this meal will be DD2's treat this time :lovestruc.

We will just be on a mission to find Snow White for youngest DD, she absolutely adores her.

We saw Snow White & her Prince both times as Auberge but it was a few years back now....

I disagree we have been twice since they changed and looking through our photos we saw more princess's since the change.

We saw Tiana in here :thumbsup2

Yes we have seen her in there in the past too, but you know what sods law says now that we really want to meet her. ;)

has any one got a link for the new menu at Auberge's ??

Did you say on the other thread that wine was actually included in your meal? I thought it had been stopped but it would be better value if it was still included not that we are big drinkers.

I disagree we have been twice since they changed and looking through our photos we saw more princess's since the change.

That is good news. How many did you see?

Thank you so much for all of the wonderful feedback, I'm feeling quite enthusiastic now! I'm really not bothered about the photographer as I'm happy to take my own photos, the only slightly annoying thing is the wine issue (boo!). I'm not a huge wine drinker, but enjoy a nice glass with a meal. I know it would have made the price worth while for my mum! :lmao:

I was also wondering, now that the Rapunzel's photo spot has gone, might she be appearing there more often? I know it would make my sister's trip since she loves Rapunzel (she has golden strawberry-blonde hair down to her hips and has made it her ambition to get a photo with her!). Has anyone actually seen her, or at least seen photos of her, in Auberge?

I'm just crossing my fingers for Ariel. :hyper:

We went to Auberge in Feb and it was fabulous, we saw Snow White and her prince, Cinderella, Aurora and the mice! We will be going back in August, possibly twice! :rolleyes1

We saw Rapunzel and Flynn in Inventions in Feb, but it was the Sunday before Valentines so think it was a romance theme!

I'm sure I read that someone had seen Rapunzel in Auberge once...? :confused3

We met Ariel on our first trip there (I don't think we met her on our second one - they blur into one :rotfl2:) and she was the nicest Princess I have met on all of our trips. Both her and Eric (Americans) were just fabulous with DD1 and really made her day. They told her that they would watch out for her on the parade later that day (ahem 'they' weren't on it that day, but were the next and recognised her and made a huge fuss of her - she was on :cloud9:). It was really special.

I hope you manage to meet one or both of them :goodvibes.

Don't forget to check the menu again before you go as it change in Nov/ early Dec. They change twice a year :thumbsup2

Carrie - that's useful for us to know too - thanks! Is that the case with all restaurants?

I'm not sure we'll do Auberge again in November though - with our time there in June, it will be our third time and I'd really like to try some other places! ::yes::

Yep. They all change twice yearly, that's why I end up taking so many pictures in the restaurant section :rotfl:
