Is April a good time to visit Disney?

We are planning a trip to Disney. Dh and I were both there when we were younger, but this will be our kids' first trip there. We are thinking of going April 23-29. We don't want it to be too hot or too cold, but we also don't want to be battling huge crowds. Is this a good time to go?

We are also trying to decide if we want to do the water parks. There are going to be 7 adults, plus an 8 y/o, a 6 y/o and a 2 y/o. Is it worth the $$ to get the passes to the water parks, or are we going to be too busy at the theme parks?

TIA!
Amanda

We wanted to go this year at the end of April beg. of May but with easter it was hard to get a date that worked in April, then the flights all change schedules the beg/mid May so we actually went down May 21-28th and it was perfect if anything I may have gone 1 week earlier to avoid the long weekend crowds our last weekend, but it's very nice and warm and not very humid.
Our passes were a special at the time of park hopper with water parks included for 7 days. We had no intention of using either option but it was a freebie ...we were sooo glad of the parkhopper option though. It was our first time and we didn't think we'd get that adventurous but it was nice to be able to go back to magic kingdom on our last night about 8pm just in search of dole whips which we hadn't had yet. It was also nice to split a day of epcot and mgm both we had done already and just wanted a bit more of each.
The last day we were on our way back from Downtown Disney and our bus stopped at Typhoon lagoon at about 130pm and it was closed due to full capacity!!! Wow.
Have fun. :sunny:

:) That is usually around the time that we go, end of April, beginning of May. We love it at that time! The weather is perfect and the crowd levels not too bad!

We went this past April, during the last week. The crowds weren't too bad and the weather was great. Going the last week, you miss the Easter crowds and alot of the Spring Break weeks.

I would not advise going during spring break, don't get me wrong, we enjoyed ourselves but the crowds were really bad. We went from 4/9 to 4/15. The weather was great, warm during the day and cooler at night (sometimes we needed a light jacket in the evenings). The crowd levels in April were a 10. We went in April due to our DD 2nd birthday. I hope the info. helps. We are going back to WDW in Sept. when the crowds are suppose to be a 4.

I always go in April. The weather is nice (not too hot and often only cool in the evenings). I have yet to have to wait more than 15 minutes for a ride and it is usually the Flower and Garden Show in Epcot which is nice photo opportunities.

The biggest issue I have faced is the cheerleader or band competitions that are usually going on at that time (the issue is just with noise at the resort).

End of April should be great.

the weather was great during our trip, we only put our sweatshirts on whenwe got back to Jersey. The crowds although heavier than when we went in October, were very manageable. We are probably going to schedule our trips for October(my birthday trip) and April from now on.
