Is AOL messing up for you, too?

I am having some MAJOR issues with my computer! I was online last week and a virus warning popped up, it was "troj_scthought." PC-Cillin couldn't clean it, only quarantine it. So I popped on the emergency lock, ran an update, found out how to clean it, and did so. Well, now I can't browse on AOL. I can log on, get my welcome screen, check my mail, and that is it. If I try to surf, I get an error page that says "Action cancelled, web page unavailable"

Also, some of my mail folders where I saved email are GONE. They were there two days ago, and now there is no trace of them. Also, in my address book, some of my entries have been changed. For example, I have people's screen names, home addresses, and phone numbers in them. Now, the names and screen names are still there, but the home addresses and phone numbers are gone.

This is the weirdest thing I have ever experienced. I thought that trojans weren't destructive, just bothersome. Maybe this is just a coincidence, and AOL is just messed up...the virus didn't have anything to do with it...

Does anyone have any other suggestions for me? I've already went through and deleted my temp. internet files, deleted my cookies, reset my computer, checked my security settings, etc. I am very computer literate and have a great anti-virus software, so I don't need the cookie cutter answers about checking for updates, etc, because I did that two days ago, with no success!

HELP!

I wish I could help but I can't. I'll bump this for you, hope someone has some help. Oh, BTW, I hate AOL :D

I may be wrong, but isn't your address book and mail folders saved on the AOL server and not your own computer? If that's the case, it sounds like you might want to call tech support at AOL.

I hopped onto the Symantec site and didn't see anything about a virus named troj_scthought, so I can't help with what this particular trojan does.
