Is anyone planning (have planned) a trip REALLY far in advance?

So when you buy your ticket online and take it to the turnstiles to enter the park, do they give you a paper ticket? Or a hard plastic one?

The tickets change from year to year, but as I have experienced, they are the thicker paper tickets, not the hard plastics that you can purchase through The Disney Store, Safeway, etc. (I personally like the plastic credit card type tickets)

Same here. That's why I asked. Plus the plastic ones are cute! lol.

We may not get park hoppers. We're only going to the parks for 2 days and I know for sure we are going to spend the entire first day at DL. I think we might end up staying at DCA for the entire day, too, taking advantage of Bug's Land with the kiddos. It almost seems pointless to buy park hoppers if we aren't going to hop. I'm assuming the Disney store doesn't sell 2-day, 1 park per day tickets in the plastic form.

We started talking about our next trip to WDW on the Magical Express leaving the hotel headed back to the airport (back in Aug 2008 when I was 7 months pregnant with # 3) just tossing around the idea of Christmas one year. We saw a program on Travel Channel a few months later about Christmas at WDW and it sealed the deal. We promised our 2 older kids we would take them at Christmas 2012. We found out a couple months after having # 3 that we were expecting # 4. Our older kids were worried that another child mean having to put off WDW for another year, but we told them we would keep our promise to them...so, Dec 2012 we will be headed to WDW with an 11, 9, 4 & 3 yr old...as promised. So, we have been planning off and on since late 2008 and in super-planning mode since the beginning of the year...just trying to finalize dates & hotel choices. We've got all that sorted and now we are just waiting for our 499 day booking window date to open up...I'm counting the days on the calendar so it can be booked :)

The Disney Store doesn't sell 2 day passes at all anymore. Just 3 days and up.

Well, looks like I'll be buying tickets online! Unless we do decide to get the park hoppers (it'll be up to the other family that's going with us since it's a $75 difference for them). Then I'll be buying them from the grocery store since there is no price difference. Anyway, I'm glad to know all that :thumbsup2

I'm planning a return trip to Disneyland in January 2013 - yep, 2013! We were there back in Nov 2009, and although we'd love to return sooner, we thought it best to wait until Cars Land opens. I work in a school, so need to take time off in school holidays. We are planning on flying out of Australia on Xmas Day and visiting San Francisco first before driving down to LA, taking a few days stopping along the coast. A Mexican Riviera cruise is next, then 10 days at Disneyland.

Just as well I have a few years in between trips to save some money up,hey? LOL. it took us nearly 3 years of saving and planning for our last trip to DL, but we all had a ball.

I absolutely love planning our family trips, my DH and 2 DDs roll their eyes whenever I bring the subject up, but always end up having the best time.

Cheers, Liz

You can add me to the list for September 2012! (we haven't even take our first Disney vacation yet! lol!) I told my husband last night that I was going to sign up for the September 2012 Disneyland 5K run. I'm due to have a baby at the end of November this year, so I'm going to use the 5k as my motivation to get back in shape after the baby is born. I told my girls (currently 7 and 9 years old) that we were going to do this together as a special girls weekend, and they are super excited! I figured if I made this commitment to them there is no way I won't see this through; I wouldn't just be letting myself down, I'd be letting my daughters down- and that is something I just can't do. My 9 year old is a competitive gymnast, and my 7 year old is just a step behind her, so I know they will help me get my butt in shape!!! :thumbsup2

Now I just need to give myself permission to spend the money on a room at the Disneyland Hotel when we go ;)

Me! We were supposed to go this summer (and the one before), but that didn't happen due to a family issue. I am now starting my planning for next July. I'm just as excited as if I hadn't planned the other trips. The big difference being that I'm going to pre-purchase our tickets this time. That wouldn't have mattered with our "issue", but it will certainly help with the costs. So excited!

Ok I added RuthieT and aleighc1!! I also added andee2000 as a tentative..Dunno if you wanted to be added! Let me know if you want off or it changes!

Also if anyone else needs to be moved or added or removed PLEASE let me know!!!

I'm out of the woods..we've had some crazy summer stuff going on but I am READY to start PLANNING. We need to BLOW this thread up!!!

We plan to go to Disneylad in October 2012. We are doing a westcoast cruise and cannot miss Disneyland while on the West Coast!

dizneekrazee I added your 2012 and 2013 dates :D (I'm not adding the 2011..but that's out of sheer jealousy ;) LOL )

yeah all my trips are generally planned a year in advance. Currently we are planning to go in march. The Travel Agent for my June trip said the earliest we would be able to book anything is probably going to be September. I plan on trying to book it after my birthday in October or maybe later depending on if there are any sales at Christmas time we will qualify for...but yes march is when were going lol

haha ok good, I'm not totally nuts. (I said TOTALLY..I'm pretty nuts in general)

Ok, so if your nuts than I am completely crazy!!:lmao: We just came back from our magical journey to the happiest place on earth and have decided I need to start - at least think about - our next journey!! My Dh told me that for the next couple of years, he does not want to see anything in the form of Disney on our vacation roster!:scared1: Can you imagine!!! Now, he, is crazy!! So of course since he has to be a partaker in our family vacations I told him - ok - :sad1: So I informed him that I want to spend my birthday - I won't mention how old I will be:eek: in Disneyland in 2014. So in April, 2014 we will be back! Now, I am trying to sneak in a Disney Hawaii trip in July 2013:rolleyes1 but we will have to see if we can afford it first! Not sure if I will get the Disney thing into the Hawaii trip, but you can always try right!!:thumbsup2

DH knows better than to argue with me about next summer. That's when DCA is supposed to be finished and he knows I'm not missing that! He did say he would like to do a relaxing vaction like a cabin in Tahoe or something. Maybe we can do that in addition to DLR. :rotfl:
