Is anyone planning (have planned) a trip REALLY far in advance?

Thank you, knitster! I'm still trying to figure out and get the hang of the format of this board and that definitely helps. Turned out I had the subscription setting turned off.

I don't use credit cards at all and generally plan our vacations a year or more out. Normally I do I Disney package with a travel agent. Most agents will continually look for new discounts and we have found on several occassions that we booked a trip at a certain rate and the price came down or special incentives were added from the booking time to the actual vacation time. You really can't go wrong doing it that way because the travel agents don't charge anything additional to book the package, plus they handle your dining reservations and any special requests for you as well.

If you are booking a hotel directly, what I have found is that you are really looking at being able to make reservations 11 months out at most of the properties around Disneyland.

When it comes to tickets you might want to look at buying Disney gift cards as you can when you have the money and then use them to buy the tickets when you are ready. Buying the gift cards is also a good way to save money for souveniers and meals at the parks. Good luck and have a great time.

Thanks for all the tips, Miry! I'm keeping an eye on our hotel...two eyes! hahah

We have one giftcard from our disneyvisa so we're now gonna save what's left on that and maybe now putting more on as time goes on! Thanks!!

I have come up with tentative dates for our Fall 2012 trip -- I am looking at Thursday, Sept 27 and flying home on Wednesday, Oct 3rd.

That would give us 4 days at DLR plus 1 day at Legoland in addition to 2 dedicated travel days!

Check the list out! (first page):cheer2: You're the first one with actual dates! :thumbsup2 I'm jealous!!

We bought our AP vouchers the day before the price increase so I have several trips planned in my head. ;)

Our first being Oct 9-14.
Then Spring Break March 2012
Maybe a quick summer stop June 2012
Last AP use Oct 6-9th 2012

DH will probably flip as I know he won't want to do 4 trips but the summer one might just be a 1 night stop on the way to Yosemite. And another 1 night stop on the way back from Yosemite.

For spring we will probably combine a couple of days at DL with a couple of nights in San Diego.

I always plan our trips far out. Planning is half the fun! (ok, maybe not that much, maybe 1/4?).

We went in October of 2007, October of 2009, and May 2011. Now I would like to see the Xmas decor, but don't want to go when it's really busy, so am planning for first week of December 2012. We are going to stay at the Park Vue Inn this time. Anyone have any suggestions on when to make the reservations?

We went the day after Thanksgiving for about a week. It was FANTASTIC crowdwise. No idea on w hen to make the reservations tho. ASAP for sure LOL

I'm currently in the process of getting numbers for a 2013 trip Dec. 6-7 until Dec. 14-15 with DLR days between Dec. 9-13. :surfweb:

(Currently considering Amtrak Southwest Chief or Cal. Zephyr before arriving into Anaheim. Then probably flying out Dec. 14.)

Just added my really long term ticker to my signature. DS says he wants a graduation trip too, but we either need to stay at GCH or go to WDW. I've got a while to plan and save.

Finally, a ticker that is longer than mine!

Dude you two are hardcore! LOL

We got back from WDW (our first trip ever!!) about a month ago, and I was having some major post Disney depression, so I told my mom and husband that the only thing that would make me feel better would be to plan another Disney trip. They agreed, but only if the trip could wait until after my youngest turned 4. So...that's how I ended up with a 3 year long ticker. :rotfl:

hahaha I'm thinking my year long ticker isn't gonna be so crazy now, so I'm glad you made one LOL

I said something similar after our last one. I wanted to go when our (then) youngest was 5ish so she could go on almost everything (since she missed out on a lot). So now we are but we also have a new kiddo who will only be 2. Guess I'll just have to plan ANOTHER trip ;) LOL

We are going in October of this year and I think next year will be the end of September.. So put me on the list for September 2012!

Ok, now I don't feel so silly saying I'm planning a 2014 WDW trip! :rotfl2: I would get a ticker for that too, but I still don't know what month. When I figure that out, I'll do it. ;)
