Is anyone planning (have planned) a trip REALLY far in advance?

Do you guys wanna start a list? I'd like to talk with other people who are planning trips so far out and see what you're doing?? If you're interested post your approx dates. If you don't have a month but you have a year, give me that :)

Yes, I would love to be part of a list and discussion about planning!

I usually plan about a year out.. We already have a rough date for our 2012 fall trip to Disneyland. Then I think we will try for WDW....

I am going in early June 2012 :)

Of course we are going to DLR in 2012, probably July. I can't miss Carsland!

I'm also trying to plan (or plot ;) ) a WDW trip in 2014. However, I can't even figure out which month to go. Summer (when we have lots of time off but it is hot and humid) or November (better weather but we would both have to find subs to take over our classes so not as much time). :confused3 It's a good thing I still have 2 years because we can't decide.

or HAVE you? We just really don't have a choice but to give ourselves a year to save. Rather than put it all on a credit card (which I'd rather do ;) HAHA) we're going to try to save cold hard cash.

I'm seeing that there's no way to reserve a room yet anywhere..and I assume I'll have to wait to buy tickets too?

We are planning a few trips right now, as we are converting our July hoppers to AP so to maximize we are finding ways to budget as much as possible.

I was able to schedule some hotels in December already and I know some Good Neighbor hotels go that far out, even farther, Spring break 2012 already seems up.

Hope your planning goes well, this board has already saved my family tons of time and resources, and just a ton of money, hotels with meals included, free transport ect ect..

Our friends, family and coworkers think we're crazy planning so far out, but we generally have plans two years ahead. That being the norm I'm really freaking out as I have nothing planned after April 2012 yet.:scared1:

My guess is we'll need a late 2012 DL trip to check out Carsland.

If you're taking votes November is much nicer weather wise and crowds aren't bad either. We love early November for our WDW trips.

I dunno if you wanted to be added Budgie ;) But I added you anyway lol If you want off, let me know. :)

That's fine. Now it's written in stone- so to speak. ;)

Yep, taking votes because I have no idea what to do. Of course, in November it couldn't be longer than a week off work.

Just watch out for Jersey Week as crowds can get pretty high then.

JERSEY WEEK AT WALT DISNE WORLD
“Jersey Week” is a partly mythical, partly real crowding phenomenon in early November at Walt Disney World. Each year, the New Jersey Educational Association holds a convention that includes a Thursday and a Friday, typically the Thursday and Friday that end the first full week of November. New Jersey public schools are closed those two days; many families in response head to Walt Disney World for either that long weekend, or for the entire week. Consequently, Walt Disney World is more crowded during Jersey Week than it is the weeks before and after. (This is the “real” part.) In 2011, the convention is November 10 and 11, in 2012 November 8 and 9, and in 2013 November 7 and 8.

You can add me! :)

We're going April 30-May 3, 2012. Technically going in April, but the majority of our days there will be in May. hehe.

Being new to the Dis boards, can I bookmark this thread somehow? So I don't have to go searching for it?

Now that you've posted in this thread, it should automatically be added to your subscribed threads (unless you've turned that option off). You can click on User CP, on the top left of your screen, and anytime someone post in this (or any of your other subscribed threads), it will pop up there.

Also, if you ever want to subscribe to a thread that you haven't posted to, just click on "Thread Tools" at the top of the thread, then click "subscribe to this thread".

I started planning this trip in Spring of 2010! I started by stalking hotel prices as soon as I saw the price go up by 20 dollars I booked it. ! :banana:We are going the last week of October. Since Disney announced the payment plan for Ca residents we are getting AP's! :worship: Now I am planning a trip for the end of April beginning of May and Halloween 2012 of the following year!

Oh man, a payment plan is SO COOL!

I've added Sophie's mom..ACDSNY did you want to be on the list?

knitster, I have posted here for like 3 years and had no idea how to do that ROFL. Thank you! hahaha

Calimom do you want to be added to the list?

I moved the list to the first post :)

Thank you for that. :thumbsup2 I would not have known and that would have been around the time we would think of going.

Have been planning a Disney Christmas 2011 trip since April of 2010, originally to WDW. Upon hearing they were going to be opening Disney's Art of Animation Resort, we pushed it to 2012 late last year. THEN, we just recently decided to change to DL...since seeing Carsland is high on the priority list for our son.

So, we are going to DL in Dec 2012 (exact dates unknown).

We go every year at spring break so I tend to plan at least a year out.

Currently I'm also planning a trip in Nov and a stop in Vegas before DLR March 2012.

I'm not sure I"d know how to behave if I didn't have a trip to plan. haha

I am so glad I am not the only one who likes to plan things very early. My family thinks I am crazy. I am planning a trip with by daughter, her husband and their 2 sons (ages 5 & 8) in May of 2012. I have already booked a kids suite at Hojo for 5 nights that month.

Yep, we plan plan plan. That's half the fun of DVC! Due to the fact that the price increases made it more practical for us to get Deluxe APs than 8-day tickets for this fall, we'll probably squeeze in a trip either early June or late August of next year for a weekend, but a quickie since we'll be spending 2 weeks in WDW next December, then back at DLR for a week Dec 2013 so we can compare the two all decked out. ;)
Ah, points ... how would I plan my trips without you?
