i LOVE the idea of a veil -- so romantic -- but i tried it on with my dress and it just doesn't look good. It's almost like it's too much, it's fighting with the dress or something.

so i'm curious if any other brides are skipping the veil?

:)

I was going to, then I tried it with my dress and loved it but i will still most likely take it off for the reception. I say go with whatever makes you feel like a bride. If you want to wear a veil there are many very simple elbow length ones that should't fight with the dress but if it still doesn't feel right i say don't do it! good luck.

The veil thing was just not for me. Every place I went to try on dresses they forced me to try on a veil. It never once felt right or looked right to me. My friend that went with me to help pick out a dress said the same thing too. It just never looked quite right. Some people say a bride should always wear one but I really think it is a personal choice. If the veil just doesn't seem right to you, then don't wear one. The last thing you want is to feel uncomfortable in what you are wearing on your wedding day. You don't want to be second guessing yourself if your veil looks right or not as you walk down the aisle. No one has said anything to me about not wearing one. I am happy I didn't wear one. I think some people look great in them and some people don't. I was a don't.

I'm with you!

I told my sister today I might not do a veil and she was like "I didn't wear a veil -- I don't like veils, they are too barbie doll."

And I was like YOU DIDN"T WEAR A VEIL?!!! I mean, I was her maid of honor - -how could I not remember that?!

But what it made me realize was my sister just looked SO MUCH like a bride that day, i assumed she had on the veil !

Every veil I tried on took away from the dress. And made me feel like I had too much going on. I do think for me and my dress, simpler is better.

Also, I realized even in the photo of my gown, the model didn't have a veil on either. And it looked beautiful. (I wish I was as think as she is!)

However I have an erica koesler veil I bought off ebay for $30 that I plan to wear in the parks with my shorts and t-shirt!

:)

I have not intentions of wearing a veil... I'm not even going to bother trying any on. It is just not 'me'.

I don't think I 'm going to wear a veil either, I mean I'll try one on but because I'm wearing a tiara I think it may look too much with a veil too. I agree sometimes it just doesn't look right, but each to their own:)

No veil for me. I didn't even try any on. I don't like what they represent - veils seem very submissive and dated to me.

I wasn’t going to but I ended up wearing it down the isle and promptly took it off....It was my mothers and she begged me to wear it, so i gave her that one thing....but had it off before our staged exit...

While i don’t regret it, the veil thing just wasn’t me

I didn't wear one, but I also didn't wear a traditional gown.

Veils were never my thing...when I pictured my wedding day, I envisioned a wreath of flowers in my hair. So that's what I had. Disney wanted $$$ to do that, so I used silk flowers and made it myself. I think it ended up matching my bouquet pretty well (considering I did not see the bouquet until 20 minutes before my wedding).

I think a wreath of flowers is incredibly romantic.

I've got a tiara/bun wrapper -- I'm ditching the veil !

thanks everyone!!!!

:)

I am doing a beach theme and I am not wearing a veil. No one has pressured me to try one on. I just don't like them, I don't like stuff being on my face. I am going to wear an orchid in my hair. :hippie:

:hippie: I didn't wear a veil! I think I look pretty silly with fabric hanging from my head...so I wore this...

If I hadn't found this...then I would have also gone for a wreath of flowers in my hair! I think it's a great idea!

No veil for me either. I tried on a couple and they just looked ridiculous. I have a small head :goodvibes and the veils just overwhelmed me. I wore a tiara, but it was more like a headband. My hairdresser that I had for over a year did my hair for the wedding and she actually asked me "did you get a child's size headband?" and of course I didn't. It was too big but she made it work!

I am not going to wear a veil, I am leaving my hair down, and will probrably do some sort of tiara or headband. Veils just don't look right on me, to me.
